The Palace is interesting as outside as inside, including magnificent views from its terraces and walls. There are description in every room and it's easy to imagine lifestyle there. The weather allowed to see the Cross of Lisbon on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other The area around is beautiful, full of marvellous corners. Spent 5 hours... More

You can walk up through the castle grounds just below this park or you can take all kinds of transportation up to this area, it cost 14 euros for the park and palace, you can get a grounds only ticket, but the palace is amazing. You can get some really great shots of the palace(beautiful colors) and also wonderful shots... More

An absolute must if you're staying in Lisbon and can squeeze in time for a day trip! The palace is unlike most castles in that its bright bold colors make it unique! We purchased tickets in advance to reduce the wait at the ticket booth and this helped. Getting there before 11am is also advisable so you can enjoy as... More

Totally bonkers palace with pink and yellow exterior walls, and tiles of every hue. It's quite difficult to tell which are original features and which are really quite modern, as it has been extensively remodelled – not least by Ferdinand, husband of Queen Maria II. He was a great enthusiast for art, ceramics and stained glass, much of which is... More

I had been to Sintra many times, but this time I finally made it to the Palácio da Pena. I didn't call it "excellent" only because it didn't blow me away as a great palace as far as places I have seen in Europe, but it was interesting and worth the trip. The views from up top our very nice... More

Pena Palace is a fun place to visit. The vibrant colors of the exterior makes this palace very unique. There is a beautiful courtyard which has a wonderful eucalyptus smell ! The walk up to Pena Palace is well worth the trek and not difficult at all if you start at the ticket counter. You also have the option of... More

Beautiful gardens/park topped by an amazing colourful palace! Awesome views from all sides of the palace. Be prepared for lots of stairs if you want to see the interior.

More disneyesque than a royal palace with multicoloured walls but interesting rooms and views. The gardens appear to be less visited but had some interesting plants and buildings, and are a pleasant downhill stroll to an earlier stop for the circular 434 bus meaning a greater likelihood of getting on for the return to the station
