The square around the Jardim do Principe Real has nice looking buildings. There are restaurants nearby. The Botanical garden is there (it was closed when we visited in March).

The park/plaza is a great area to spend a leisurely afternoon. There are several good restaurants nearby (and in the plaza itself), plenty of cute shopping, and on Saturdays there is a market of local crafts.

Just in front of the botanical garden (which is closed for restoration) is this wonderful square, full of charm and good vibrations. It is a very lovely area to explore with a lot of interesting shops, nice garden and lovely bars.

This is a very nice area to wander around and it feels safe in the day and evening. Lots of people congregating near the Quiosque das Oliveiras for a quick drink and snack - felt very Portuguese. Nice shops and restaurants in this area
