I had seen Rick Steves in one of his Lisbon videos going here and I simply loved this tradition. 'A Ginjinha' is a tiny bar opened in 1840, next to Rossio Square. They serve 'Ginja' which is a local favourite sweet cherry liqueur served as a shot. A shot of Ginja costs €1.20, we tried it and liked the taste and experience. When in Lisbon definitely worth going here and trying it.

This place is in a very touristy area, that's a bit of a bummer, but it's worth a visit just to try some Ginjinha. The drink is great. They serve it in small plastic cups, which is not so great, it kind of cheapens the experience. Glad I stopped in.

For only 1.40 euros you can have a shot of the famous cherry liquer. They also have a wash basin as you may well get sticky when drinking it as they pour generously.

Grab a shot and make sure you get some of those sour cherries! This is a great boost to your step as you walk around Lisbon! They only take cash!
