Wild Walkers offers some great and fun tours of Lisbon. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Even if its "free" and you can tip what you like at the end, the knowledge of the city, its history, and the fun and friendly way its presented is of the highest quality! This is the second time (August 2019, August 2020) that we took the Old City (around the Castle) Tour with Hugo. We told him that we had already taken the tour once and he added in new stories we did not hear the first time around! During Covid regulations, the tours are now limited to 10 people so please RESERVE in advance. We travel the world and this company is by far the most authentic, less commercially oriented I have ever found. If you want a real local's view of Lisbon, highest quality information on the history and culture, this tour is perfect. The other people on the tour were also very friendly, fun and nice - its great for people traveling solo or with friends or families (kids probably 7 and up who do not mind walking - I do not know what the actual age recommendation is). We would go on at least one tour on every visit to this city!

Did the 10am 2-hour walking tour of Alfama + Graça + the miradouros with Hugo and a group of about 10; Hugo was a super guide, funny honest efficient and generous with his recommendations and time! Really added some historical context and texture to my time in Lisboa, and would really recommend. It's a great way to get your bearings of what can be a maze of a city, so suggest starting your time there with the walking tour, and exploring after then on your own! Hugo's recommendations for restaurants and sights (to see, and to avoid) were really helpful and saved me a lot of time and money.

We did two tours with Hugo and we really enjoyed it. Not the typical tourist tour you would do, we went off the beaten path and enjoyed a good mixture of history, nice humour and honest talks about the past and the present of Lisbon. Definitely recommend signing up for this tour if you like a more critical approach to the history of the country and what it has to offer. Hugo was lovely, giving us some useful tips and recommendations for places to explore and things to try. A beautiful phrase he used in one of his speeches will remain with me even after leaving the city - "dancing in the past forever" in regards to saudade.

Hugo was the best guide I could have hoped for. He showed us around Alfama and really took his time to give us visual and historical insight into his home city! His knowledge is impressive - and he offered his help even days after his lovely walking tour. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We had a wonderful 3 hour tour with Mariana around barrio alto, chiado, cais do sodre. Mariana gave an engaging tour covering the history of Lisbon, its origins, the 1755 earthquake, its great poets (Camoes) and discoverers (De Gama, Magellan) and more. She showed us secret corners of Lisbon and introduced us to the ginha drink and egg tart, as well as tips on what and where to eat. Her passion for the city is contagious. This skill is hard to find in other guides. You will have a great time while getting to know Lisbon in depth. don’t miss this tour!

Sofia was an awesome tour guide. The group was kept to a limited about so we were able to ask plenty of questions and the conversation between Sofia and the group was both educational and fun. We stopped at plenty of historic landmarks as well as a famous bakery in town. Aside from being free, this tour is awesome because it appeals to multiple generations and you’re always moving. We did this tour in October which I think is a great time to go because the city isn’t as crowded and it was not too hot. Sofia really made the tour special, she was incredibly personable and knew all the fun facts. She even recommended a few ‘hole in the wall’ restaurants and bars that my friend and I ate at right after the tour and loved it! Best meal of the trip!

I literally had the best time with Hugo during the tour! He has such a passion about guiding people around Lisbon and to show them all the wonderful places of this lovely city. He is combining important facts and funny stories in a unique way. Unfortunately I could only take part in one tour, but next time I will definitely join another tour! Hugo (Wild Walkers tour company) is an exceptional walking tour guide. He is actually "from" Lisbon, and tells humorous / entertaining anecdotes about Lisbon's people while describing the history of Lisbon.
His university degree is in Languages, Literature and Culture and he has a Masters Degree in Portuguese Studies. He's been working as a tour guide for over a decade. He's also a writer and creative assistant for short-films, comedies and plays, Plus Hugo does stand up comedy - in both Portuguese and English.

My friend and I booked the Lisbon Reborn tour on the last day of our stay. If we only knew how interesting and engaging the tour would be, we would have definitely booked another one.
Our guide Hugo was absolutely amazing. He was funny, interesting and in my opinion, did his best to explain in detail some of the most important moments in Portugals history. But nothing sounded boring, ever story was a joy to listen to.

Excellent free walking tour. Hugo the guide is passionate and experienced and will do all he can to make the trip memorable. Would recommend this tour early on in the trip as it can provide tips on what to see and what to avoid- and help save money. The tour spent most of the time in the Alfama neighborhood

I didn't have a car either, I stayed at lookout Lisbon hostel, close to the bairro alto district. I was able to walk all around town town and alfama with a good pair of shoes ( Lisbon has lots of hills). My favourite thing I did in town was getting lost and off the beaten track and finding authentic places to have lunch or dessert. Don't miss the farmers market in alfama every Tuesday and Saturday. I would highly recommend doing any waking tour and learning the history of the city. I also visited sintra, very romantic castles and gardens. It is starting to get warm enough to go to the beach and if that interests you, bring your swim suit and find a surfing lesson. I was on a pretty tight budget, but I managed to keep my meals between 4-6€, and my tour to sintra which I booked through my hostel was 30€. Hope this helps!!

I arranged it via my hostel, which was Yes hostel at Rua de S. Juliao. I think the group picked us up there at 10, so 10.30 at rossio square sounds about right.

Hi there! You can find us every day in Rossio Square at 10h30 in front of the statue. We are IN FRONT of the statue and we are wearing a RED SHIRT. Look for the red shirt since sometimes there are other people showing up during the summer trying to take people to do other tours and I want to make sure that you will get to us.
I'm actually there tomorrow and Sunday so perhaps I'll see you there.
