The Basilica is popular with locals and tourist alike and can be very busy in summertime. The popular Tram 28 passes in front of it. On a cold evening in Feb however it was almost empty, quiet and peaceful. Visitors were mostly worshippers. It's a stunning building inside and out. There's a shop and information centre to the right as... More

A good place to get nice views of the city. The church itself is also pretty interesting. The church is free to enter. You may choose to pay to see the roof. From the roof, you may also view the church dome which is an interesting perspective

Located in the center of Lisbo, this basilica is one of the most beautifull churches in Lisbon, and it deserves to take some time to visit.

Pay the 4 euros to head up to the top of the Basílica. It's worth every penny. On a clear day, the views are fantastic. You'll be treated to walking the entire roof of the building and be close enough to go deaf when the bell tolls! It's wide open, easy to walk around, and the best part....you get to... More

Only 112 steps separate you from a great view. Lisbon looks like an amazing postcard and you are inside it.

By far one of my favorite churches in Lisbon. The exterior is a work of art and once inside, you're surrounded by colorful marble, Roman Catholic decadence, and yet, there's a humbling dignity about the place. Very serene and very beautiful, very nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the outside world for a moment or... More

Beautiful church to visit with amazing architecture. The number 25 or 28 trams will take you from the City Centre and both stop outside the church.

Portuguese architecture, absolutely beautiful, with lovely music being piped inside the church. The cork and terra cotta nativity scene is behind Queen Maria's tomb on the right side of the church. It is a little bit out of the beaten path.

I love the elegant, understatedness of this basilica. The muted colors or the stone, and the beautifully selected statuary and art are more appealing to my senses than the overly ostentatious cathedrals - though I can appreciate the historical and religious significance of them. One of my favs after Sainte Chapelle (never will be bumped from number one) and the... More
