In the true sense of the word, this funicular “elevates” passengers up an exceptionally steep hill, so steep the sidewalk is a series of stone steps. It leads to the Pharmacy Museum and Santa Catarina viewpoint/overlook. What a view! This ‘ascensor’ or funicular was conceived...More

Bear in mind if you're relying on this service to get you to the top of the hill, the tram is currently out of service until 28th August

No need I believe to ride the tram bit at least try to take a picture. Saves energy and time to go from one point to the other.

I'd heard about this being well worth the visit/ride, so as I was in the area, I thought I'd give it a go. The guides all recommend it, so it must be good, right? Hm. I was one of the first in the queue (at...More

We visited on the walk to the time out market - the tram wasn't working the day we visited but it was still well worth the visit to see these fabulously old trams in the narrow streets - fabulous photography opportunities

This is one hell of a steep ride. Crosses over with the tram coming the other way half way up. Great way to save your legs but don't pay in the car, make sure you have the daily metro card. Less crowded than Gloria.
