I'd advise everyone to go see it because it's a very unique display in Portugal and it's really inexpensive and good entertainment for at least 1 or 2 hours. They usually have guided tours and even then the tickets should be about 2€/person The Universities Science Museum has a collection half based on old zoology artifacts, from old taxidermy to... It was crowded but it was a fun time to look at all of the exhibits. I'm not sure what the overall theme or aim was, but it was interesting to see the facts out on display. There are two parts to the museum. One open to the public and another that you need to go with a tour guide.... More

A nice set of museums, but missable. If you lack time, use it for something else. The main plus is their historical value. If you are travelling with a child, some modern interactive parts, e.g. light, would be interesting.

I saw only the first part of the museum because of the short time. It is rather for children to experiment with physics. The second part is guided.

I was very disappointed. The museum is in 2 parts on opposite sides of the road. The first part we visited were 2 old university lecture halls and a room of exhibits. 95% of the exhibits only had information in Portuguese, so it was just a matter of looking at old laboratory equipment. Also in this building was a natural... More

The light museum is OK. For me, however, sing the fantastic collection of antique scientific instruments and nineteenth century taxidermy was amazing (stuffed manatees). It gives a real sense of nineteenth century curation. You have to be admitted and guided as part of a group.

The tour of the rooms containing scientific instruments and natural history attractions is a must, absolutely fascinating! The guide was delightful and very well informed. This visit was one of the highlights of my trip to Portugal.

Very interesting museum with interactive experiences. We also visited the zoology and old instruments rooms with a very friendly and informed guide which made our experience much better.

The museum itself is very nice and interactive. It's especially nice for the kids, but is fun for adults as well. There is also a tour guide on the other side of the museum and this was especially nice for me, since you get an overview of the experiments and tools that the professor and the students have used so... Excellent for kids between 5-99. When you buy the tickets to visit the university of coimbra and library pay just 2 euros more to get tickets for the science museum. Interesting hands on experiences.
