In the heart of the downtown this church combines both ornate detail in the alter and chapels with simplicity in the nave. City gates are across the streets and surrounded by restaurants.

WE saw this church during a guided city tour. It is well worth a look. Take some time to sit quietly and absorb the feeling in this place.

Igreja Matriz de Sao Sebastiao is another example of the 16th century churches that Portuguese built all over the world. It is a great example of good preservation.

This is a great piece of architecture, with its bell tower visible across the town. It is simple but very beautiful inside and definitely deserves to be visited. Masses were everyday at 8.30 and 18.30 if you would like to attend.

Incredible beauty and art of the 16th Century. It is a little musty and be sure to leave a donation when you leave.
