We weren't going to go in, but the officer was so pleasant and welcoming (in fluent English) that we shelled out 3 euros. There's lots to see, a fine colonial fort, and an excellent temporary exhibition (March 2018) about the Azores in World War I....More

Containing the military museum I would give this museum a pass although the kids might like exploring the tunnels. I will read up more on the Azores role during WW 2 as it was stationed strategically in the middle of the ocean. Some photos showed...More

There is a very large collection of all things military - guns, cannons, vehicles, uniforms, tools, equipment, old documents and photos. Also good views from the battlements.

It's worth hunting down this amazing military museum, which is not "small" as many guide books say. Housed in the old Forte de S. Bras, its rooms have artifacts grouped into different rooms. Kids will love exploring the many tunnels, recesses, and watchtowers used in...More

The fort is amazing if you are a history buff or artillery historian. Never was I so amazed at all the rooms turned into a museum. One room led into another and then another, etc. Climb to the top ramparts and the view is breathtaking....More

Went here for the afternoon, a small room with some photos and then you are allowed to wander the fort. Outside there are different vehicles and Weapon systems that you can get your hands on. You can wander around the battlements and take in the...More

A definite must see, along with the military museum. I would allow for 1-2 hours to fully see all of the exhibits. The tour is self guided and restrooms are available in the fort. There are several exhibits from WW I and WW II.

The fort is located on the water right near the Portas de Cidade square. It was big and there were a lot of rooms to go through. It was interesting – the view from the top was worth a look. The price to enter is...More

Was only 3 euro and you will get to spend at least an hour and a half plus visiting a fort. There is a very good military collection of artifacts from old to more recent times. If you like military firearms, this is a must.

I have been in bigger forts with lots of cannons and stone walls, but for the price paid this one is a good investment to spend a nice couple of hours. The outside is nice and the inside museus very interesting.
