Furnas is an interesting place to visit for the hot spring, church and unusual up side down house. Botanic gardens are lovely to walk around.

If on Azores off course you will visit Fournas! If you go there by the local buses you might be a bit confused with the bus stops, because of the one way streets. Coming from Ponta Delgada get of the bus at the bus station....More

Furnas is a definite yes! Absolutely incredible to see water boiling up from the ground! Sulphur smells strong but well worth visit and a must to try the Portuguese Stew cooked in the ground!

We basically went there for lunch and ended up visiting the town/village and were pleasantly surprised with all the little gardens around almost every corner. We weren't there for long, but there seems to be a lot to see and it's pretty quiet and peaceful.

Bad smell but fascinating. Forrest around is like from jurrasic park or a fairytail. The food the cook with the heat of the volcanic activity is very basic and ruff.

It is on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. We flew directly from England but I understand there is a flight to Ponte del Garda ( the capital ) from Faro. Furnas is about a 40min taxi ride away from that airport. Well... More
