A small but well presented museum charting the history of Albufeira and the surrounding part of the Algarve. It contains some great exhibits with explanations on cards in excellent english. The museum also displays fascinating photographs of Albufeira before it became a tourist resort. It certainly warrants a visit and at €1 entry it is unbelievable bargain.

So what do you do when you discover an un-documented well of unknown date, filled with 16th Century rubble? You build a museum over it. This small but fascinating museum charts the town’s history over 8,000 years, up to the 16th Century. It’s well laid out, and they aren’t precious about getting up close to the well over which the... We dropped in on a rainy afternoon when on a trip into Albufeira. What a good decision. Although small the museum is packed full of interest. A great and educational place to visit whether sunny or not. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Little museum but only 1 euro for entry . Worth a visit if you like museums. We spent about 1 hour looking around .

We were passing this and as we had never been in we thought we would. It has a few relics from the past and nice carved stones from centuries ago. The items were laid out well and cards for each language to you could read about each piece. Doesnt take long so next time your passing, stop and have a... More

We love museums and had been meaning to visit this one on our previous 2 visits to Albufeira. This year the weather was not so good so we finally got round to visiting. 1 Euro entry for adults and children/students are free. A few more exhibits would be good as even if you look at everything and read all the... More

We had a lovely afternoon in this museum. Very interesting to see the beginnings of the region. The girl at the reception was very friendly and helpful.
