One of Europe's oldest, this university features a lovely complex of classroom buildings with some great tile art and pretty architectural features.

This is the second oldest university in Portugal. Classrooms were small and could see blackboards and overhead projectors seemed to be still used. I would imagine computers too!! Was a Sunday so little activity .

The university of Evora is located a bit outside the city center but easily reachable by walk. The inside is splendid. It looks like a convent and you can see the classrooms decorated with azuléjos. Do not miss the library.

The university was highlighted as one of the main sights to visit in Evora and it did not disappoint. It's a short walk away from the town centre and provided some much needed shade to escape the heat. The university is one of the oldest...More

If you come here on the heels of Coimbra, you will likely be disappointed. But it is a fine old institution of higher learning with students in traditional black cloaks and lovely tiled lecture halls and classrooms.
