We took a cab to the start of the aqueduct around 8 km outside of the city then walked back. Its a wonderful trail through farmlands alongside of it. Mostly on the ground it contours through the hillsides. One short bit you have to walk along the highway but the rest of the trail makes it worth it. Get a... More

We were amazed by this structure! It was more then 6 miles long, and was the only means of water into the walled city of Evora

The aquaduct is the most impressive artifact of the old town of Evora. Especially the part with the included houses.

Impressive piece of engineering. We tried to walk along it but after walking for about half an hour out of town and still not finding anyway to get off the road gave up. The aqueduct looks quite impressive against the blue sky

A beautiful hike along the historic aqueduct. We got on the trail at about 8 km out of town. A section runs over private land. We had to walk along the road for about 1 km before reconnecting with the trail at the Sao Bento monastery sign post. At this section the trail follows the arched aqueduct, quite impressive. Unfortunately,... More

We stayed in a hotel in Evora next to the aqueduct and hiked foe about 8 mile along it outside the town. The engineering that went into this was incredible and is is still in a more or less working condition today. Really worth seeing and hiking along it.

Another one to tick off your list of aqueducts seen :-) I always find these structures impressive, ok it isn't the most striking example but it is now 'ticked'.

Upon entering the Porta da Alvis section of Elvora you will come across the Aqueduct structure. Would recommend seeing it as one of the things to do in the area. Note the attraction is free.
