Great look around this Castle today! Rare to see something free to do or see these days! Great place to start in Beja! Great views from the top but you'll need to be fit to get up there... Recommend DW

Well when I told my kid's we are visiting a castle they didn't see very happy. At arrival the tower is very appealing. We can go all way up and is free. From the top we have a nice view of the city.

Interesting visit to the landmark og Beja. Good restoration works. Minus for inadequate securing of stairs to the lower parapet. Impressive view from the top of the keep

There is not too much to see however on the day we went round late in the afternoon it was free. We just clambered around the walls and walked up to teh top of the tower to overlook a fancy wedding below and the town...More

The castle is not interesting However it is worth climbing to the top of the tower to enjoy the scenery on the city and surrounding fields

If you are thinking about sightseeing in the south of Portugal, don't hesitate to stop by Beja. Besides the castle you can visit the town itself, as they have some beautiful churches as well. The food in Alentejo is very very good so is also...More

Beja is definitely worth a full day trip. Lots to see, from the castle to the churches. Plan in advance if you want to see interiors as some places close midday and only reopen in the afternoon.

Entrance is free. You can walk around and take the 100 or so steps to go to the top of the tower. From there you have a good view of the area around Beja. In the olden days they would have seen an enemy come...More

Free entry and great views from the top of this restored castle tower. Very helpful in tourist office in castle as well.
