About
Discover the history of chocolate ... The tour begins with the discovery of the Mayas and Aztecs, for whom cocoa played an important part in their way of life. For example, they used cocoa during their rituals where it was mingled with their mystical beliefs. ... and how it is made The tour goes on to show you how the processes for the transformation of cocoa gradually evolved over the years and led to the invention of solid chocolate in the 19th century.

- CMC695 contributionsChoco-Story - The Chocolate Museum Review. Bruges in MarchJust about worth a visit, some interesting bits to see. It wasn't busy but I can imagine it being a nightmare at peak season so I would go very early if that's when you are travelling. There is free chocolate at the end but I would avoid, the amount of fingers grabbing from where they are released, especially all the kids, is kind of disgusting.Thank you for your feedback. The chocolate at the end is held in chocolate dispensers. The bowls underneath are to catch the chocolate that falls from the dispensers. When you turn the wheel and hold your hand underneath you get fresh, germ-free chocolates to taste.Written 11 May 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2023
- Mark IFenstanton, United Kingdom42 contributionsOnce you get the hang of the audio tour, you'll realise it's the future...Great for kids and adults alike with a well constructed narrative that affords visitors the opportunity to connect the high level story while dwelling on the detail (if they wish). Took a few minutes to get used to the audio tour, which initially feels a little gimmicky, but you quickly realise that the content is well structured and thought out. It leads young and old through an interesting history of chocolate and its significance to Belgium. Really brings to life the story, significance, and 'relative recency' of various chocolate innovations (in the grand scheme of time). Would certainly recommended as a highlight of our visit to BrugesThank you for this wonderful 5 star review. - EmmaCardiff, United Kingdom9 contributionsNice museumWent here as we wanted to try a museum in Bruges. They provided audio guides to listen to which was great. Very informative for different timelines in the history of chocolate. The place was very busy, the shows and demonstrations were a 15minute wait each. Only able to try the chocolate at the end of the whole experience.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 December 2023
- GemZ77Manchester, United Kingdom498 contributionsInteresting VisitThis was an interesting way to spend a rainy hour! Reading the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, but really enjoyed the visit. Remember that it is a museum rather than a novelty interactive Cadbury world style venue, and therefore probably better suited to adults than young children. The audio guide was easy to follow and I liked that all the clips were quite short. The first room was very small and crowded but people quickly dispersed and spread out. The history of chocolate and the various artefacts collected are really interesting e.g moustache cups! Highlights for us were the free photo machine and the chocolate making demo at the end of the tour.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 December 2023

You have to scan each code and listen and there’s so many it just lost its edge for us. We also had to rush to make the last chocolate tasting session at the end. We enjoyed learning about the history of chocolate. Our arms did get quite tired from holding the hearing devices to our ears, headphones would have been better.

The chocolatier was very informative and funny. We got to make lots of chocolate which saved us money from the many shops in town. It was a fun experience and definitely the highlight of the museum.

A lovely interactive museum with lots of facts and the audio guide was great. My children enjoyed scanning the numbers to find out more information, The chocolate sculptures were great. Was really interesting in the back story of chocolate better than Cadbury's world.

Rubbish. It was a couple of rooms and a video animation that didn’t address any of the issues of ethical chocolate harvesting. There was some free chocolate and some interesting sculptures including Michelangelo’s sculpture. There was a photo that you got emailed to you with a choccie background. Quite interactive. I wouldn’t bother.

Thank you for your feedback. During your visit of Choco-Story, the chocolate museum we try and show as much information there is to know about cocoa and chocolate including its production and its history. Unfortunately it is not possible to address every single aspect concering chocolate.

This is a well laid out informative tour covering the history of chocolate across the world. It finishes with much welcomed tasting of different kinds of chocolate (amber was my favourite) and demonstrations from a chocolatier. A very good experience very well priced

Great place, although very hot inside and at times slightly overcrowded but the chocolate made up for it! 🍫

Dear Beth, thank you for your feedback. Choco-Story, the chocolate museum is in fact a museum, not a chocolate shop. During your visit at the museum you learn everything there is to know about cocoa (the main ingredient of chocolate) and chocolate itself (its history, production, ...). At the end of the visit you get to taste the chocolate as well. I understand if you expect a chocolate shop and you get a museum that this can be disapointing. We apologise for the misunderstanding.

About 1-2 hours. It is much bigger than it looks on entry. We didn't realise at first that it is on 3 or 4 floors, plus a shop on exit. (Sorry for late response, only just seen it).

Muchas gracias.
