Honest - I did not like Brugge. However, I loved the Beguinage. The history, the peaceful nature of the setting was beautiful.

Originally a home for war widows, this women refuge now forms part of the tourist trail. Not sure if one is allowed to enter the place but they have some lovely gardens. Also, we learned during the tour that single women can find accommodation here.

This is a don't miss. We visited and toured during the first week of October, and weather was absolutely wonderful. Shopkeepers and restaurants in the area are also good- very happy to have visitors.

A nice spot by the canal that is worth taking a respite from the hordes of tourists. Not that well kept but nice to visit.
