Of course you can go off course! Ask for a tour with only official guides. Marvelous mix of different periods of history and be surprised. Go in and ask for more information.

This is like a tale of two buildings. The front facade looks relatively new with it's wonderful black pillars and gold leaf architecture, whereas to the right of the building is the usual old style white stone with many fabulous intricate statues.

You can't visit the inside, but it's a obligatory picture. In fact, two pictures: one by day and another by night, with it's beautiful lighting.

You won't believe your eyes, while walking through the enormous halls of the old Town Hall. On every floor there is an interactive , digital , horizontal LCD screen, on which can enjoy various explanations of the floor on which you are!

Great visit and should be on your to do list! The facade alone and a walk around the building is worth the visit! You sure will take hundreds of pictures of the sculpted facade. Amazing inside salons to visit.

It is a very beautiful building, worth to visit if you are in Ghent. As I have visited around Christmas there were many Christmas markets around.

Walking by the Ghent Town Hall, I was attracted by it, after all the facade was in flamboyant Gothic style. However, on the other side of the Town Hall, it seems like a different building. It is not! The other part is more like the mild Renaissance style. Quite a contrast! Intrigued, I wanted to see the inside as well.... More
