Reminiscent of the Cathedral at Notre Dame in Paris, the Collegiale is awe inspiring. Unfortunately there was limited staff the day I went so no tourist support was available but it's not all together necessary. I spent more time in this cathedral just exploring the beauty than any other I have visited. It's clearly showing its age and renovations are... More

Hello everyone, First time I visited the cathedral I was amazed how big it was for the small town of Mons. It is one of the nicest I've seen in this part for Europe (south Belgium). The tinted glass is exquisite, the golden chariot that has a special event associated with it can be seen in the cathedral, the surroundings... More

This is an extremely beautiful collegiate church that witnesses the rich past of the city of Mons. A visit inside is very educational and full of nice discoveries. It also contains an extremely important part of the city's tradition. If you have the chance to visit Mons, it's a must see.

Take your time to visit this place. Excellent explanation in 3 languages, some tv with background information, time passes quickly if your look around here.

I'm not religious but I could appreciate the sacredness of this place and the items held within. The displays were well presented but I couldn't get the audio app recommended to work for the exhibits which was disappointing. The beautiful stain glass windows, statues, alters and paintings gave me plenty to admire. Everywhere there was something to appreciate- even the... More

At a short walk from the « Grande Place » you can visit the « Collegial Saint Waudru ». In the middle of the 15th century the “canonesses » of the Sainte-Waudru chapter had decided to start the construction of a new church, but into the Gothic style this in order to replace the collegial in the roman style. The... More

Very large and dominant. Beautiful decorations inside, great golden cart which is taken out on Trinity day. Nice colored glasses and sculptures

A very impressive Gothic building where construction commenced in 1450 and finished in 1650! Marvellous inside where there is also a "chariot" (Golden Coach) is absolutely amazing on which a relic of St. Waudru is pulled around the city in June.

The best parts of it is Gothic, but maybe because it's building lasted almost 2,5 centuries, there are some very different ideas on it's outside. The part looking downhill is rather pompous and is showing the power of church. Understandable if it was built during the Renaissance era. The inside is not too overwhelming but rather peaceful. Somewhat overwhelming is... More
