Fronting a rather dreary modern square, is this classical building housing the opera. Built in 1829, this neo-classical masterpiece of columns and sculptures is a little incongruously situation facing a boring, workaday business block.

My wife and I went to a great Mozart opera. The performance was great. The venue was marvelous, combining the old (Rococo) with the new (art nouveau). But the real downside of our experience was the process of getting out. This was a total disaster...More

All opera performances are moved because of the opera reconstruction. Temporary building is a huge tent where you do not miss anything, maybe just the scents of the history.

The theater "Theatre Royal de la Monnaie", short "La Monnaie", is a real wonderful opera house. But the surrounding square is simply ugly.

Upon entering the building one is immediately struck by the moldy smell in the hallway and gets a sinking feeling about what is to come. That is where the bad experience ends. The flat is not only immaculately clean, spacious, airy and just altogether fantastic,...More

The Opera is putting on a great show in June 2016, but the house is closed due to renovations.....and it takes serious sleuthing to figure out where they moved the show to...there is no announcement for the temporary replacement venue....BAD PR

The neoclassical style of the front of the building makes you stop and have a look at this pretty architecture from 1818. You can book one of their guided tours to have a look inside and to learn how an opera house works.

It could be way nicer than this. The neoclassical style of the entrance it just does not match with the rest of the building. Not one of my favourite spots in the city.
