It was really cool to stand in the middle of the plaza. The memorial only takes a few minutes to read and walk around. It was a little awkward to get to though. The statue is totally surrounded by buildings and there were only a couple of entrances and they weren't marked.

This is a very good place to start the city. The architecture is beautiful and there are plenty of good restaurants.

I found this square by accident and found it to be a quiet, clean, and peaceful spot. The history was quite sad as it's the resting spot for so many. It's near a school, so plenty of students were around.

A nice place where you can sit and take a peaceful rest on a bench – in the sun if you are lucky. It is close to the shopping center and shopping street but yet quite. The architecture of the surrounding buildings is great.

Worth a few minutes of anybody's time to enjoy some peaceful contemplation away from the bustling streets of Brussels. Best enjoyed in the early evening with a fine scotch or two - Talisker Dark Storm being my recommendation.

Make a change to find a nice square with a fine statue not overrun with cafes impinging on the space and spoiling the openness of the square.

This square is located just off the busy shopping street Rue Neuve/Nieuwstraat and what a big contrast! A must see when you are around.

As the name suggests, it is in honor of the martyrs. A very quiet place, usually not crowded much. Surely worth a visit. It wont take up much of your time, though you might have to walk a little to reach the place.

Very quiet, despite being just off the main shopping street. Worth a visit, it was lovely to sit outside the bar and just relax and people watch.

I did not see this on the local map and found it just walking. It is a quiet square off a main street. I do not recommend walking around here at night or when dark since there weren't tons of people even during the day. There is a crypt underneath the monument to honor those who have died.
