The ingredients of a perfect bar; history, great beer, hearty food and great service!! The walls tell the story of art and inspiration, the kind of food your grandmother would serve (if she was Belgian) an exceptional choice of beers and the two guys running the place could not have more friendly and helpful. We ordered Belgian beef stew which... More

I stopped in with my girlfriend after dinner looking for a beer on our first night in Brussels. We walked to the bar area and it was crowded with people - but were immediately invited to sit wherever we would like by Junior. I went to order a Leffe and Junior said, "wait, you need to try something you can't... More

Visited mid Week in the Late Afternoon on a very cold day, so it was very nice to receive a warm reception, great beer and good food. The original part of the bar is three smallish rooms with the bar in the middle room. The decades of nicotine stained walls (no smoking these days) are adorned with interesting pictures and... More

This is one of my favourite bars in Brussels and a definite one for the list for visitors to Brussels. Old, quirky, lots of interesting history and great character. Slightly off the beaten track but only by a 5-10 minute walk - worth the diversion!

Well, this (very) old - authentic Brussels-café is a must to all wanting to discover the "real ambiance" of a typical beer-tasting place. Although it is quite famous and quoted in various travel-guides, you will find yourself immersed in a "local atmosphere" made of "Brusseleir" speaking "habitués" Don't hesitate to ask questions, nearly all people are quite willing to engage... You are going to BXL, to enjoy all the famous sites, museums and delicious restaurants...and now, you wish for something different. Something that you make you FEEL the old Brussels. Look no more. Go to that magical little bistro, sit at a bench -like table, order a beer and...ENJOY. All is real here. The "brusselar", simple menu, the humour and... More

Having been to Brussels many times in the past, I wanted to find a new place to eat, a place with not only great food but with a history, a story. After doing some quick online research, I discovered La Fleur en Papier Doré and was immediately convinced when I only read two names associated with the place: Magritte and... More

As witnessed by an old photo that occupies a whole wall of the café, this café was frequented by painter René Magritte and friends. Nowadays friendly staff serves pub food and beer (two or three on the tap). My stoemp was good but not great, tap beer could have been colder.

Ah, Het Goudblommeke in Papier, a true Brussels cafe! Don't tell anyone... Friendly and awesome staff (speaking Brussels..) with very good knowledge on local food, bars and beers. Love this authentic (historic) bar with great beers and food. Less than 5 minutes away from Manneke Pis.

We were recommended this place by a tour guide when we asked about where to get good Flemish stew. This place is fantastic, a cosy place, and the food was excellent and well priced. It is decorated with lots of interesting wall pieces, and had a selection of Belgian beers. The staff were very friendly, too.
