Must see 4 architecture lovers!
Nov 2021
This beautiful gothic church is a must see for all architecture lovers!
We didn't have time for guided tour, but it is a stunning building!
It would be a shame not to see it outside and inside.

Magnificent Cathedral
Oct 2021 • Couples
A grand cathedral in the middle of Brussels city. You can go inside as well. Just in walking distance from Brussels Central Station.

The guided tour made it all worthwhile, with access to lots of interesting treasures and parts of the cathedral that are otherwise off limits. Frederika provided plenty of interesting history and detail. The tour took about 90 minutes.

Beautiful cathedral in the center. I was intrigued by the figures with golden objects like swords. Great for pictures both indoors and outside as well

Nice building close to the city centre
Aug 2020
The Castle sits on a small hill not far from the railway station and city centre - I walked past it almost every day yet did not go inside until almost my last day. The outside is if anything more pictureqsue and interesting than the inside with its views of the surrounding area. The inside is of course still worthy of a look if only to admire the beautiful stained glass windows.

The Pillars of the Earth.

Having read over a thousand pages of the Ken Folllet book on medieval church construction, visiting Cathedrals and places of worship around Europe has taken on a whole new meaning. The Duomo in Milan is a masterpiece that took nearly six centuries to construct, the spectacular Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is still work in progress and the Black Abbey in Kilkenny is a medieval gem. Victor Hugo described this 13th century building in central Brussels as a Gothic masterpiece and few could disagree. It is the preferred location for Belgian royal weddings, the coronation of monarchs and their funerals and it probably should figure on the itinerary of any visit to the Belgian capital. One can easily suffer from Cathedral fatigue while on holiday but this hallowed masterpiece is well worth a visit if only to marvel at the skill of the ancient church builders and admire the wonderful stained-glass window in the northern transcript depicting Charles V and Isabelle of Portugal. It could also be a welcome respite after a busy sightseeing schedule and over indulgence in mussels and chips, waterzooi, waffles and the sublime chocolate for which the Belgian capital is renowned. Afterwards continue up the hill to reach the Parc de Bruxelles, the biggest green space in central Brussels, laid out formally with majestic tree-shaded avenues and another haven of tranquillity in the city centre.

Beautiful Church on the side of a hill
Mar 2020
St. Michael's and St. Visual had a very nice mass at 1230 which we attended and we were very much surprised at the beauty of the church and the welcomed warmth of the congregation. The stations of the cross were beautiful as was the art work. Pleasant women at the gift shop added to the warmth of this church.
