This is not a museum in the traditional sense: the museum itself is actually the house that Victor Horta built for himself in the late 1890s, which truly exemplifies the Art Nouveau style that made Horta into one of the most acclaimed architects in Belgium.

What to do on a damp Sunday afternoon in Brussels. This was a convenient walking distance from my hotel and easy to reach by tram. Not too busy and they control the numbers in the building at any one time. Be prepared to drop coats,...More

Staff were a little officious on the way in, but that’s not a problem when you get to see one of the most beautiful houses in the world. It’s a complete work of art, and there is so much to see. If you have an...More

Horta is the Gaudi of Brussels. His architecture is very unique, especially for his time. I think I would have appreciated an audio tour of this house.

This museum, which is the house of Victor Horta, a leading light of Belgian art nouveau, was fine but not amazing. I say this because, while the house has been beautifully restored to the way it was when Mr Horta lived there, I had no...More

Wonderfully restored art deco home of architect. My only regret was not to be able to walk around the area to see some of his other work.

As a huge fan of Art Nouveau I was keen to visit this museum when in Brussels recently. The museum itself was tricky to find and also it's only open for a few hours in the afternoons.. The museum is beautiful and a stunning example...More
