What a Landmark it was and still is to this day. The details of this Windmill has been restored to minute detail and I cannot imagine ever getting enough when you stand there in the presence of history and the epitome of engineering, a true Marvel. You will be left amazed if and when you decide to stop by, spend an hour, enjoy the attached museum. ENJOY !!

Purely by chance our Dutch friends found this windmill. (Something I’d wanted to see). By chance it was a Saturday that turned up. What a fascinating experience. The sails were spinning and we had the opportunity with one of the volunteers to venture into the milling section of the windmill.
It is a corn mill and it was amazing, the guide took us through all of the workings and how it was operated. It doesn’t kill corn on a daily basis, but I understand for school visits it can do.
The guide gave us the full tour including showing how the brakes worked to stop the sails.
Even let me restart them.
Was brilliant chance to see a 300 year old piece of machinery in operation.

Nice windmill, only open on saturdays so we did not get to visit inside though we got some good pictures. Wish the website had hours available in english. Nice park nearby and very close to the tram stop (line 2).

Old Dutch windmill

It is a astonishing to find a windmill in between houses. This mill was built in 1721.
Most mills were built either to keep our land dry or to grain. At De Korenaer you can still by all kinds of flour!
