About

Nov 2019
VAN KLEEF DISTILLERY
A wonderful place to visit is the distillery Van Kleef, The Hague, where a have-a-drink happens in quality spheres. All has been coolest restored to the original gin and liqueur house of yesteryear. Visit on your own or when reserved with a group (small or large) it is so fun! The staff and the bar lady will tell you about the circumstances and the history of the distillerey all in style. Included the museum. Always a great time here!

Jenevers, also called Dutch Gin, but more a liqueur, very enjoyable tasting experience
Jul 2019
We were on a private tour of The Hague and Delft and this was suggested as one of our stops. We were on bikes so parked them up nearby and went into the small premises that opened out more at the back. There is a counter where we stood and then tables at the rear. It seemed to be a place where groups went and had pre-booked. They were very busy.

We had two samples and then we spotted a salted caramel jenever, so had to have a third. This was lovely, the thought of pouring that over vanilla ice cream meant I had to buy a bottle. Luckily my parter had a ruck-sack but it did mean I was going to have to put my luggage in the hold on the way home. We decided it was worth it.

This is something different. Well worth a stop.

Jenever tasting
Aug 2019 • Friends
A group of friends got together for a jenever tasting. We got to sample at least 12 different varieties... we were having so much fun the we lost count! It was a beautiful day and we had a table at the back of the lush garden. Generous portions of olives, nuts and fresh bread were included in the price.
We paid an extra 37EUR to have a guide for the experience which was really worthwhile. We learned all about the history of the distillery and the range of products.
This is a charming, tucked away spot in the Hague and well worth a visit. The jenevers are interesting, delicious and come in distinctive bottles, so they make a great souvenir.

Warm & Welcoming -- and Great Booze!
May 2019 • Friends
We walked into the Van Kleef distillery on a rather cold day in the Hague because my friend has the same namesake. Little did we know that we were in for a treat with Esmeralda and the rest of the staff there.

Not only did they welcome us with open arms just before closing, but they were extremely knowledgeable about the spirits they sold, and were more than willing to give us a taste or two. After a long day in The Hague, it was a bright spot -- and one that I would highly recommend to anyone who's passing through the Netherlands.

Bargain shots!
Feb 2019 • Friends
I had read about this place on a list of things to do in The Hague and since it was a rather cold and rainy day, we decided to check it out. To be honest we didn't expect much, but it turned out to be a delightful visit. While there is not much to the museum part, it was still interesting since we had never heard of genever before.
The tastings and the welcoming staff made the experience worthwhile. The first shot of traditional genever is free, then additional shots of the various flavors were 50 cents each, a bargain! There were 3 of us, so we would each get a different flavor so we could try many of them. They were delicious. We ended up buying a large bottle to bring home, as well as a few of the tiny bottles of different flavors to drink during the rest of our stay.
They do offer a formal tasting experience with drinks and food, but you have to make reservations for that. I wish we had known that. There was a tasting going on while we were there and it looked like fun.

Best experience ever

Fell in love with Van Kleef the moment I stepped in. It was the staff and the boss (Fleur) that made it an exceptional experience. Lovely place and amazing alcohol that made me wanna bring them all back to Malaysia. I will definitely visit again if I am ever in The Hague again. So glad I found Van Kleef and thanks for giving me the best experience ever in The Netherlands.
