Arrived at about 1 pm. Took metro to Wilhelminaplein. Walk is about 10 minutes. Entry euro 10. Very unfriendly receptionist. Could not even be bothered to show you the way. They were refurbishing the entry area. I spent 10 minutes there, which worked out 1euro per minute! Exhibitions were not very well presented. OK I assume because they were changing... More

As a photographer, I found the exhibitions at the fotomuseum varied and inspiring. I'd definately recommend a visit for any photographer, art lover or photography enthusiast.

Visited with our teen daughters as the elder one is studying photography for her GCSE and it's a hobby of mine. We spent much longer here than I thought we would. The temporary exhibits were American neon diner signs by day and night, a chap who used only Polaroid and photographers who used interesting techniques in their work. We really... More

I was looking forward to visiting this museum with my dad as we love photography. We arrived around 4.30 on Friday and were told they close at 5.I heard the cash register employee telling a visitor 'well,we need to go home to have diner you see, thats why we close at 5'(?!!). Anyway 30 mins were enough as the exhibitions were... More

At least part of museum exposition definitely is renewed periodically. What is good, museum is included into national 'Museum kart' so is free for card holders. Level of exposition can be interesting not only for photographers. I definitely consider museum too serious for children below 14. Even if they like to photo. For photo amateurs the technical level of exposition... More

Interesting museum with ever changing expositions. I have already visited many times and seen different theme expositions. I especially liked the series about the Mediterranean Sea, the pictures from Iran and the journey of an African refugee to Europe - that was years ago but still a very current topic. Before you visit, check their current schedule for things you're... More

If you have an interest in photography or history, then this is well worth a visit. I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. It is big and modern and it has a nice collection of old and modern photography. We have spent a really enjoyable couple of hours at the museum. The museum has loads of old photos and films... More

Great building situated close to the Erasmus Bridge. Interesting displays over several floors. Current temporary exhibition is about Horst and is well worth a look. Good bookstore.

If you have an interest in photography or history, then this is well worth a visit. The gallery space itself is very good indeed. The main space was hosting an exhibition of modern portrait photography, and it was great to wander around - spacious with good lighting. Downstairs there was a smaller exhibition and also the Netherlands photography museum. The... More

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. It is big and modern, it has a nice collection of modern photography, also it has interactive sections that are in English. I recommend it.
