The Kunsthal Rotterdam is one of the leading cultural institutions in the Netherlands. With over twenty exhibitions a year, the Kunsthal offers a programme that is dynamic and always surprising. The Kunsthal is continuously transforming, and with its regularly changing exhibitions able to offer crossovers between various art disciplines. From modern masters and contemporary art to forgotten cultures, photography, fashion and design. The Kunsthal's exhibition programme gives it its national scope and international allure. In its iconic building designed by Rem Koolhaas, the Kunsthal stands for three core values: art, culture and society. The Kunsthal is not a museum, nor does it wish to be. Not having its own collection gives the Kunsthal absolute freedom, and making optimum use of that freedom is where its strength lies. With a small team, a wide range of exhibitions and activities are realised with a high turnover rate for a diverse audience. This is what makes the Kunsthal different from other institutions in the museum sector.

The exhibitions and installations were well integrated. One could see how each section relates to the rest.

We went to see the current photo exhibition by Peter Lindbergh, and spent also some time in the African exhibition. Both were great and time well spent. The section on the Erasmus bridge was tiny, and I wouldn't go there for that purpose.

Having made the trip from Amsterdam it was well worth the trip. Inspiring and beautifully curated! I went round the exhibition 3 times to totally absorb the experience.

You see, this museum rocks up with sets you call "Halls", right? There are 7 Halls overall, and going through all of the halls is like doing a puzzle. You don't know which is left and right and you're free to roam however you want. There is no 'first' and 'last' part of the exhibition. There is a store INSIDE... More

Amazing Exhibtion. The best photographs of Peter Lindbergh in Hall 2. We spend more than 2 hours with the pictures of Peter. A must see...for everyone!

First of all, hall 1 was closed during our visit. Other halls, except hall 2, where Lindbergh's exhibition was staged, were disappointing. The Lindbergh's exhibition was really interesting, showing the author's special vision of many icons of style. Natural History Museum is adjacent to this one, so it may be a good idea to combine them is one day.

Together with a friend we went to the Kunsthal because fashion photography is one of my favourite art forms. Love the big images by Peter Lindbergh, the diaries, Polaroids and more. Such an inspiration!

I went to the Kunsthal to te Fernando Botero ( Celebrate Life) exhibition of his artwork. The Exhibition was amazing!. It is divided into the different stages of his artistic life. Great choice to spend a day as you can also have a snack at the restuarant in between the different exhibitions at Kunsthal. You pay a small fee at... More
