Nice to visit and enjoy the view

Nice to visit and enjoy the view. Holds a very big historical importance for the city around the time of the 80 year war. Also enjoy the view around the city.

Be sure not to miss this place in your Leiden tour. It offers one of a kind view of the city and the near cathedrals. If you love nice photos, then this is a must visit place. Skip it and you will regret it. I was there approx 2 hrs before sunset and the light and view were excellent.

It took me a little while to find it since the entrance goes through an alley first, but oh, how beautiful it was at dawn! And a great view of the city as well, in fact, one of the few places where you can actually have a proper panoramic view!

This structure is in the middle of the town, you can just to there to rest, or to have a good sightseing point over Leiden. There is also a bar near there, if you want to buy something to eat or drink!

Has a lovely all round view of Leiden, from a HILL! This is pretty unusual in the very flat Netherlands, and I think this is a man-made hill, but it is worth the very short climb. Some plaques with local history when you walk around the top, but it is really the view that is entrancing.

It can be a little tricky to find but if you ask someone he can point you to the right direction. It's next to the public library. Nice enough place , interesting that it was built by humans , it has a nice view but it's not something too special. If you are at leiden and you have time you... More

A fairly stand-out feature of the city, but it seems to lack any real investment in discussing the history of the place, or providing more information for tourists. Due to this it would be a fairly short visit.

A former keep that housed the people in times of trouble. Climb up the stone steps and enter inside the brick structure. Inside is an old well, now covered. Climb the iron staircase for some great views of Leiden. As you walk the circumference, there are plaques in Dutch and English talking about the history of the city and the... More

Kind of impressive that this is the biggest hill that you can see - and it was entirely man-made in the 11th century. The remains of a castle (only the outer wall) are on the top of the hill, climbing up affords beautiful views of the city. It took us a bit to find the entrance - the stairs are... More

If I may say, The Burcht is one of Leiden landmark. If you climbing up the stairs to the top of the Burcht you will be pampered by the beauty of Leiden. The Burcht is one of the top spots in Leiden which offer a great view of the city. During summer you can lay down on the grass or... More
