Fascinating and well presented windmill. Steep staircases so be prepared to climb up and down. Loads of information and an excellent view from the platform of Leiden as well as a close look at the sails as they whizz by.

Absolutely stunned to see this historic and old windmill. I never knew windmills are so huge on the inside too! The ground floor has the small house in which the miller lived, with all things intact. The upper floor have various tools on display, while you see the various parts of the windmill in motion from the inside. A bit... More

We found this listed in a tour book and it sounded just quirky enough to try out when we switched buses in town. It turned out to be a destination - the museum itself is really interesting and easily takes an hour or more to visit, but it's located on the canal in a lovely area - we picnicked nearby.... More

I'm a mill freak, so I love this place. Lots of history, good exhibits, friendly staff and cheap entry fee. Must see if you're into windmills/

Come here if you want to taste a bit of Dutch culture! You can take a look of how wind mill work, you can visit the house (people used to live in the first floor of the windmill!), you can go upstairs and reach the top and see Leiden from there! It's interesting because there are explanations everywhere about how... More

There are historic wind mills all around Holland but I found this huge mill very interesting. In great shape and a wonderful self guided tour. Definitely worth the visit. The only downside, lots of construction outside which made photography challenging

Very informative tour of the windmill of Leiden and the history of windmills in general. Combining a video explaining the history as well as displaying the components that make up the moving parts of the windmill and also a display of what the living quarters also looked like. Well worth a visit, but only if you can manage ladders!

We were staying for a few days in Amsterdam, but got the train out here as I remembered the windmill was good from a couple of visits with my parents in the early 00's. It didn't disappoint. A well kept exhibit which allows you to explore virtually the whole mill. Decent view over Leiden from the balcony and interesting history... More

There is plenty to be seen on this tour, which is excellent value for money. A short video presentation on one of the floors was an unexpected bonus. Beware the steep stairs if you are unsure of height or ladders, otherwise it is a must see.

This is a well preserved place and interesting things are abound when inside. Careful going up and especially down the ladders on the top floors if you are a bigger person like me. Good view from the top though, and it is worth the climb. I didn't find the staff to be particularly friendly in me walking in the door.... More
