The Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage site is a unique icon of Dutch water...

The Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage site is a unique icon of Dutch water management and control. All the phases of the history of our struggle against water are still visible here. The unique collection of 19 mills in an authentic Dutch landscape is an eye catcher. Museum windmill Nederwaard shows how families lived and worked in our mills around 1900. And in Museum windmill Blokweer you can experience working as a miller. View our multi-screen film in the Visitors Centre, located in the former steam-driven pumping station. Get on board of our electric vessel, the Prince Friso, and view Kinderdijk from the water. Feel the wind, smell the water and listen to the sound of the windmills. The Kinderdijk World Heritage site is open almost the entire year!

Kinderdijk is a small city in Holland. Most of the land in this city is below sea level. Here in this city you can see the Unesco world heritage, the windmills. Long time ago this windmills was use as a pump to regulate the water level to protect Kinderdijk from flooding. But now, there is another modern pump that work... More

Even though I am Dutch, I had never visited. But when I had guests from the US, I put it on the 'Must Do' list. We had a long day, but we got there around 5 o'clock on a cold windy day. Because of the late hour, the restaurant was already packing up, but the gift shop was still open... More

We so enjoyed this visit! You had to pay to park but it wasn't terrible. The movie prior was informative but not the best. It was very quiet when we visited in March. It was breezy near the water so expect it to feel colder then the temperature in town. Make sure you go inside the Windmill, it's worth it!... More

Def worth seeing if you haven't been before . Half hour round trip on the boat or you can walk past the mills or cycle. About 15 mills lovely to see in a very peaceful setting . A bit of old holland . €5 to park . It wasn't hugely busy but can imagine parking to be an issue if... More

We stopped to look at the mills as we were leaving for our trip to australia. Well worth the effort and winding roads to get there. The mills, canals and state of it all is amazing. It was quite windy and thus cold but made for a good display of working mills. If you are considering do not hesitate to... More

We drove 2.5 hours to see this and it was 100% worth the drive. It was a bit chilly out but we bundled up. The walk along the water way was so peaceful and beautiful. The windmills go on forever in the distance and it is the most wonderful sight. Some of them have regular residence and only a couple... More
