About
Experience “Anne Frank, her Diary on Stage”, a theater play based on the life of Anne Frank. It covers the 2 years spent by Anne and her family hidden in the secret annex, as well as events occurring before and after that time. Anne's words poignantly reflect the tensions and tragedy of existence during her family’s time in hiding and make the period come alive. The life-sized set, 180 degrees around the audience, combined with archive footage and beautiful music makes it possible for you to experience Anne's journey that takes the lonely little girl to writing and into womanhood in the midst of terrible oppression. Free use of our Translation System, in audio and/or subtitles on an iPad fixed in front of your seat in 7 languages, 100% synchronized with the actors on stage. “Anne Frank, her Diary on Stage” is the first-ever theater performance based on all the versions of her diaries, including the uncensored ones edited by Anne Frank herself. This theater performance was created at the initiative of the Anne Frank Foundation in Basel. Income from the Frank estate is redirected to fund educational and charitable purposes worldwide.

Anne Frank, a Jewish teenager while in hiding during Holocaust writes her personal diary based on her experince telling of the suffering of the dutch people. Anne tells of her hiding behind a book case from the Nazi people. Her father later I believed published a book from her notes. This museum is a must see if you are in Amsterdam.

Although the story of Anne Frank is known I was surprised by the play. In every detail it was clear that the composers did everything to bring Anne, her family and the tragedy of the 2nd ww into live.
Breathtaking, daring and touching. A must see for every visitor in Amsterdam.

Saw this with my daughter aged 12. Wonderfully moving experience. Educated her in an accessible and sensitive fashion about WW2 and what happened to the Jews in holland and Europe in the camps. Would recommend it to all. Put Anne Frank's house into perspective.

I saw the spectacular performance of ANNE in this new and beautiful theatre in Amsterdam together with my wife and kids and we are all (including my kids!) awed by the play, the actors, the video's and projected original texts of Anne Frank, the huge and most impressive and spectacular sets. On top of that we had great food and drinks in the restaurant and were most impressed by the level of hospitality of all staff members. A night never to forget!! And afterwards my kids started long discussions about her life and how it would be to be in her position. It made some lasting impression on all of us! Seeing is believing and I most certainly would recommend seeing this play that is ground breaking in every way

Anne Frank's is a story that everyone knows before they see the play. However this performance brings the story to life in a unique and surprising way whilst being absolutely faithful and respectful to the original text. The portrayal of Anne herself is breathtaking - combining the wisdom, curiosity, playfulness, energy, concerns and love of this bright young girl. The ending is treated respectfully, leaving the whole audience in a deeply awed and pensive state. The production, regarding the set, sound, video effects and costume were perfect. Overall, an outstanding and mesmerising performance.
Just a note for anyone who wants to use the multi-lingual translation system (note, the performance is in Dutch). The system makes use of an iPad Mini attached to the gap in the seats in front of you. You can select from 1-3 of the following: subtitles, audio dubbing and an audio scene summary. These are in 8 languages and all settings can be swtiched throughout the performance. I thought the audio would be distracting, and can understand some Dutch, so just used the subtitles. Overall I was impressed how the they remained in sync with the performance - I have no clue how they manage to do this considering it's a live performance. If you want to use the audio options I recommend taking your own earplugs/headphones as the ones provided by the theatre (for free) were low quality and only one ear worked. This was surprising as everything else about the theatre is to a very high standard.

I recently saw the premiere of ANNE, a play based on the diary of Anne Frank, at the new Theater Amsterdam. I was blown away! The famous story of Anne Frank is brought to life like never before by some excellent acting and some incredible sets including a life size replica of the Anne Frank house three stories high which rotates so you can see lots of different perspectives. They also cleverly use big projection screens to add another dimension to the show. The combination of the sets and acting make this probably the best play I've ever seen and the final act in particular is incredibly moving. If you are going to Amsterdam and want to understand the Anne Frank story this is a must see.

Very touching tour...read her diary and you get to relive it...buy tickets in advance if you can, if unable to, go there early before 9am, you wait in line via the website for the extra tickets they offer for the day. It was worth seeing it for those who like history.

This multimedia stage production on the story of Anne Frank is an absolute must see when visiting Amsterdam! I found it revealing and emotional.
Balanced in showing respect for the legacy while performing an entertaining play. A great way to keep this important story alive for the next generation!

ANNE and the Theater Amsterdam provided a memorable experience on a number of fronts. The incredible scope, complexity, and historical detail of the sets blows you away. The story is well known, but this experience brought it home like no book - or even a visit to the Anne Frank house ever could. The availability of the translation system allowed me to enjoy the play despite my inability to speak Dutch. The theater itself is a destination. With its beautiful view of the harbor and outstanding restaurant on the mezzanine level, it made for a very eventful afternoon/evening. I am returning to Amsterdam in April and will bring the rest of my family to see this powerful production.
