Started raining while we were strolling through amsterdam alleys so we ended up at this place for a coffee that resulted as 2 beers. Great atmosphere and surprisingly no music in the pub. Our first try of local delicacies (raw meat!) and one of the...More

This atmospheric brown cafe is located in a narrow alley to the rear of the English Church in the Begijnhof area. It is a one room brown wooden-walled bar with no actual bar - all drinks being served from a tap room at the rear...More

Went here with my fiancé, they opened at noon. Had couple great beers and place started to get packed. Great service and good local pub feel. Recommend it to everyone.

This bar is great. Very well decorated, great beer, friendly staff too! Very obviously where some of the older local Dutch hang out. Really cozy!

Just around the corner from the Begijnhof and into a little street is De Engelse Reet (English buttocks). The name is etched in the window, just in case you walk by it, as we did. We were looking for gin or rather Jenever. This famous...More

This ancient brown bar (also known as De Engelse Reet) is tucked away in a little alleyway off the main pedestrianised shopping street Kalverstraat. It's a new dimension for licences premises - a bar with no bar. Well-dressed gents in collars and ties serve drinks...More
