Be aware of being cheated by #grennbudgetbikes
Jul 2019 • Family
Be aware not to get cheated by green budget bikes. We rented 2 bikes for two days. Brakes and gears did not work well as we realized after some time. After having several dangerous situations in traffic we returned in the evening and got another bike. We also asked to check the lights then and were surprised that none was working! The changed bike was just as bad, as one pedal turned around all the time what we realized later and again the gears did not work! As we brought the bikes back and asked for some discount we were laughed at and ignored. It seemed they were experienced with unhappy customers. You will definitely regret renting your bike there!

You get what you pay for.

The bikes are a bit old and well used, but fine for the price charged. Staff was rude and unhelpful though. They tried to upsell insurance but didn't have any children's helmets available to rent along with bikes. I felt they were a bit unprofessional, but also the cheapest in the area, so there's that. If you prioritise cheap rental for slightly outdated bikes over customer service, this is the place for you.

Rent a bike at your own risk
Aug 2018 • Couples
Considered yourself warned....I rented a bike in an hour the tire was flat I had to walk the bike back 5 km.

Do no expect customer service you will not get your money back.

I wish I had read the reviews on trip advisor before renting.

The bikes are in terrible condition...dont be reeled in by the cheap price.

Pay the 14 euros and get a reliable bike from another business.

Dangerous bikes and terrible service
Jul 2018 • Friends
3 out of the 5 bikes we rented were damaged and no intention of helping by the staff.
The chamber of the front wheel exploded one hour after we rented it, one of the locks wasn't working at all and a pedal fell off. A PEDAL FELL OFF.
We had gone far out into the south so we had to walk an hour back to the centre just to be scolded by the store manager and told "we were lucky to get our deposit back"... rude.
F*CK YOU GREEN BIKES!!
Hope your business fails and your shady staff sinks with it.

We get a tandem bike from Green Budget for one day. Paid deposit 200e. Whole day enjoyed our city trip. Didn't have any problem with the bike and payments. Like it!

Check your bike before you rent it! When you return you get forced to pay for any damage, even if the damage was there when you got it! In order to not pay for the damages the bike has, you have to add on their crap insurance to not get scammed

Inexpensive, easy to use bikes

Surprised to see so many negative reviews here, from my experience and my friend's we cannot complain at all. We rented the bikes out for two days and returned them under the wire (good thing too, didn't realize they charged for late returns so watch for that). We purchased the damage and theft insurance for them and received our deposit back when we returned them, no problem. We had no issues with the service whatsoever, just make sure you read what you're buying.

The bikes were fully functional, and even if they were not brand new quality, many people in Amsterdam keep their bikes in less than desirable quality to avoid them being stolen. If rental companies do the same, for bikes that are frequently used by different people, I wouldn't be surprised.

My friend actually was T-boned by another bicyclist one day. No one was injured, and her bike was fine as well. The guy at the counter did a quick check once they were returned and that was it.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS...ITS A SCAM!!!
Apr 2017 • Friends
We recently hired out 4 bikes from the shop near the Ice-bar. We happily paid £50 deposit for each bike, we declined the insurance for theft or damage as we were only hiring for 1 hour and would be on them at all times. The employee checked over all the bikes before we left and sent us on our way. Half way through the hour one of the bikes seats fell off as it was so rusty from years of work, we managed to fix it enough until we arrived back and when he checked the bikes he pulled off the seat accusing us of ripping off the seat on purpose and demanded we paid 15 euros for it to be fixed.. we explained that this damage has happened because the bikes are so old and its wear and tear and he said customers must pay for the up-keep of the bike. He laughed in our faces when we were explaining its not our fault. Never seen such rude customer service in all my life. He said it was his first week in the job..I can't see him lasting very long. When he checked the bikes over before we left for the hire he knew that the seat was due to snap and because we are tourists he knew he could get away with it. Please avoid this company at all costs and dont fall in to their trap of cheap prices.

Cheap and does the job
Mar 2017 • Couples
The girl on the counter was very friendly. The bikes had both seen better days but for €10 for 3 hours they were fine. Neither bike broke on us. Brakes could have done with a bit more life in them. No issues with deposit but we left cash to avoid any card shenanigans. I've heard there are better places to rent but it did the job fine for us.

Bad quality bikes
Mar 2017 • Family
While the staff were nice, the bikes are junk. My first bike's key broke in my hand the first time I tried to use it. The replacement bike's gears did not work. The next replacement had a seat that was stripped and just turned around and around. The next replacement had a broken headlamp (the store did notice that before renting to me, which save one return trip). The next bike's lock was very difficult to open/close as it kept sticking.
