I wanted to know more about the building of Amsterdam. This was a quick museum to learn about that. I say it was cartoonish because they project animated figures on to a model. Having been through here before our boat cruise was great because it...More

Dutch friend recommended this museum to learn about the history of the canals and Amsterdam as it expanded. We were not disappointed - this was a well-thought out design and series of presentations. Especially enjoyed the interactive model of a canal house in the third...More

Loved this museum, probably my favourite in all of Amsterdam. We arrived just before they had opened so had the whole place to ourselves for some time. The exhibits were very fun, intricate and the audio guide was very informative and interesting.

We were surprised and delighted at the sophistication and technical wizardry of the storytelling in this gem of a museum. Multi-media and models and great photomontages all helped understand how the physical Amsterdam came to be, and how the U.S. in particular was instrumental in...More

It blows my mind that this museum isn't on everyone's top 10 list of things to do in Amsterdam. Their engaging approach allowed me to really appreciate Amsterdam- its history, culture and architecture. Elementary age children will enjoy as well. Please visit this museum early...More

This is housed in an old canal side house but the museum consists solely of audio visual displays. They are very well done and you get a free audio guide but it is a bit like watching a film. Not an essential site.

I had no idea this place was so cool! The audio tour is incredible, the models are amazing, everything is interactive, and you learn a lot about the city. Had a great time here!
