As I live in Alkmaar it might be a little chauvinistic view of this tour. But anyhow we have done it several times with family members and friends. It is an open boat, but that makes it all the better. You are more close to history! It is not a very long tour, but it is an absolute must if... More

The canal tour is a fun way to see the city center, buildings of interest and the big and smaller canals. Commentary is provided in different languages. Especially nice to do on a warm day (as it is an open boat without roof or cover). Don't forget to duck at the low bridges! Tickets can be bought in the Cheese... More

This (no roof) boat goes in the canals around the old part of the city, it is very interesting and fun! There are several low bridges (from the middle age!) and you must go down with your head. Very interesting and cool to do!

I very much enjoyed this canal boat tour, it was a great chance to see Alkmaar from another perspective and get an overview of the town layout and highlights in 45min. It was raining lightly when I went which made for low numbers but we had fun all the same. Bending down to go under the 22 low bridges was... More

Really recommended: it takes between 40 and 50 minutes and like always on such a cruise in the Netherlands, they bring you to all attractitions - from the riverside. This tour is mainly in an open boat. The "captain" is shortly explanaing stuff in three languages, no too deep explanation but enough to get an impression. Starting point acccross the... More

It's another view from Alkmaar. Seeing all the old houses (anno 1600) and churches from the water is so different and lovely. Alkmaar is such a lovely town with so much to do and see.

Very pleasurable and informative. We were lucky. Sun was shining bright. It's an open boat, so sunny weather adds to the pleasure. Alkmaar has many canals. A canal boat tour is thus a great way to see the many merchant houses and bridges from the outside. The boat passes underneath 22 bridges (I lost count....). Some are very low, so... More

I can recommend this atraction to anyone visiting the lovely old town of Alkmaar, the boat takes you through the old cananls and under bridges, it take about 1 hour and is well worth doing.

Very interesting guided tour of Alkmaar from the canals, made more adventurous due to the very low bridges.
