Name changed to "Design Museum", but give it a miss all the same
Oct 2018 • Couples
The Stedelijk Museum has changed its name to "Design Museum". An exhibition of design in food was presented on the first floor. On the second floor an exhibition of the photographer mr. Wolzak was presented showing pictures of interiors of houses. This exhibition made the visit to the museum somewhat worth while, with interesting observations on the walls about the different rooms and objects in the house, but the exhibition of design in food was a complete mess. I would advise to give this museum a miss; you may step into the design museum for a short look-in of the exhibition of the photos of mr. Wolzak, when in the possession of the annual Dutch museum card, which gives you free entrance, but spend no money on entry tickets. That money can be put to better use elsewhere. To finish this review on a positive note. Toilets are clean and you can through a covered walkway to the neighbouring Noordbrabants Museum, which is far more interesting.

The new name of this museum is Design Museum Den Bosch
Oct 2018 • Couples
This is a fine museum in a super location of old den Bosch. have a look around after visiting their interesting exhibits, changing all the time. For instance we saw a food and fiction exhibit depicting how food names, packages, ingredients and so on are influenced by social change.
We think this museum is really a gem for Den Bosch.

Very interesting

A very nice and modern architecture in the middle of a medieval city-part. Build next to the Noord-Brabants Museum. Both are connected by a passage.
This modern part recently has changed its name into: Design Museum. Various contemporary exhibitions and a visit worthwhile.

Now the design museum
Jun 2018 • Couples
Attached to the Noordbrabants Museum, and accessible by paying one admission fee of 15 euros, it consists of two rooms. One has a small exhibition of present-day jewelry, the other and larger room has an exhibition of modern ceramics. It is moderately interesting, but unless you are keenly interested in these areas of work you won’t want to spend much time here.

Good Ceramics Exhibition

The Stedlijk is adjacent to the Noordbrabants museum and we paid €15 for a combined ticket for both.

Although the Stedlijk is very modern and well laid out, there is much less content than the Noordbrabants. However, the exhibition called Celebrating Ceramics, which displayed the pottery of Italian designer Ettore Sottsass, was really good. It commemorated 100 years since his birth.

I found the Style Drive, which was a series of photographs of people with their cars and jewellery, less interesting and there was also an exhibition of jewellery by Catalan Marc Monzo.

Combined with a visit to Noordbrabants, this was a worthwhile trip but there wasn't enough content to justify going to the Stedlijk on its own.

Contemporary art in a very modern interior
Jan 2018 • Couples
The SM is the neighbour of the Brabants Museum and it is possible to enter the SM through an inside passage. The museum is on 2 higher floors which are quite modern and light. The one exhibition were very large photos on the theme "Style drive" where people are shown with their cars and juwelry. The message is that the car is an instrument to show off the personality of the owner. The other exhibition was Ceramics by Italian artist Ettore Sottsass which was very colourful. In all a nice combo of 2 different exhibits which can be nicely combined with a visit to the Brabants museum.

Jewelry and ceramics

Walking through the Noord-Brabants Museum, I got to the other museum, het Stedelijk. With two floors of art. The most interesting was the ceramics exhibition. Love the architecture of the building.

Den Bosch 500 year art exhibition
Oct 2016 • Solo
Wonderful exhibition of all of Den Bosch's finest paintings; the first time in 500 years they were all gathered together. Even though the entry times were staggered and I went early in the morning it was still packed to the gunwales and it was hard to get close to the paintings to see the details. Of course that is what everybody else wanted to do also.

the lesser of the two (Noordbrabants Museum/Stedelijk Museum)
Aug 2017 • Couples
The exhibitions are okay, but not great. This museum just has two big exhibition rooms. Not a real comparison with internal neighbor Noordbrabants Museum.

A lot of museum for a relative small town
Jun 2017 • Family
The stedelijk in Den Bosch has much more to offer than one would expect for such a small town. Its rich history makes up a great deal of the museum we very much enjoyed it...
