Good museum, very good guided tours, done by very knowledgeable volunteers. Well worth a visit between shpping and eating (the other main things to do in Roermond.)

Pierre Cuypers was a great builder. He built Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and Central Station as well. It is a nice museum with lots to see of Pierre Cuypers. Must see in Roermond.

Cuypers is the best-known Dutch architect. He designed many churches in the southern Netherlands, including the remarkable basilica of Oudenbosch. He designed the Rijksmuseum and central train station of Amsterdam and castle De Haar, and he is responsible for the restoration of the Knights' Hall in the Hague. He started a museum at his home in Roermond, which is now... More

In general, I would say this museum is a kind of boring. It shows things related the work of a famous Dutch Architect. Somehow, this museum cannot impress me like other Dutch museums do. I went to this museum because I know this is about one of the most important person in the Netherlands, P. Cuypers. You can see his... More

P.J.H. (Pierre) Cuypers was a master of architecture. He has built numerous famous Dutch buildings. His style is distinct. The 'Cuypershuis' museum was actually partly his own home where he lived with his wife and childern. His first wive died in childbirth at the age or thirty. The staircase and many other elements of the house (like a dome to... More

When you visit Roermond you should spend some time to visit the Cuypers huis. The building is quite original and shows an overview of the life and work of Pierre Cuypers, the fameus 19th century architect who designed for instance the Amsterdam Central Station and the Rijksmuseum. He lived and worked in this house.

Lovely museum and friendly staff. Lots to see and explore. My two children at 3 and 5 were a little too young for it though. 7 years upwards I would guess. Great place though.
