I returned to Maastricht to go to an Andrew Rieu Concert in Vrijthof Square it was a wonderful atmospheric evening in a truly beautiful square I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope I can return another year

It's amazing to see the Vrijthof transformed from a busy flea market and shopping place and busy square to an even busier place when the Andre Rieu Concert in on in the evening.

Andre Rieu performs here every July in the open air in this square and its an amazing spectacular to hear and see if your one of the lucky ones to have tickets to his concerts

Wow

One of the main squares of Maastricht, with tons of restaurants and outdoor seating. Absolutely great for a sunny day, to stroll around, sit down for some coffee or drinks and watch life go by....

Beautiful historic square

Loaded with history and surrounded by cafes. It is the center of Maastricht and where all the major events are held. Must visit when coming to the city. Good parking underneath. Cosy shopping streets around

Square full of history

No visit to Maastricht would be complete without a visit to Vrijthof. Two imposing churches, historic houses and many catering options, a must see.

Wonderful site when empty.

When I visited Vrijthof, there was a food Preuvenemint which occupied the entire squaer. It is claimed to be the biggest food expo in Benelux but was very dissapointed as 90% of stalls only served alcohol and food was limited.

Buzzing central hub of Maastricht

We were in Maastricht at the end of the season, yet the city centre was still very busy. The square has a number of historic buildings & is lined on one side with lots of cafes & restaurants. Drinks not too pricey considering the location....More

André Rieu concert

Huge square with 10,000 listening to the Concert. Great ambiance and fantastic to be here in the town where it all began. We had seats near the back but no worries. There were 2 big screens to watch as well.

You can't miss this place

This is were all activities happen in town, from concerts to food inspired events. Lots of terraces as well just to sit back and relax or enjoy what's happening

The accessible seating is in a special area on the left hand side towards the middle. It is marked clearly on the map of the site also there are uniformed stewards and stewardesses who will show you the way. Enjoy your visit! More

I am interested in seeing andre rieu at christmas this year in maastrict , i went earlier this year with a coach company but id like to not be restricted in to rushing back to your coach the minute the concert finishes! Id rather see the night in and stay in maastrict square till the early hours and stay there overnight im interested in going with andre rieu travel but whats the best way as ive noticed that as great as the company sounds the travel isnt included how would you get there?? Im from nottingham in england also what do you get in the andre rieu goody bags that you get???

Hi I would love to attend one of Andre's concerts in Maastricht in 2020. I will be travelling alone. It will be a once in a life time experience. I would be able to afford an average priced seat, but would like to know which would be better for me to experience the great vibe... sitting far back on the actual square, or perhaps going for a terrace seat at one of the restaurants? Also, any recommendations of a travel package with a tour group for this event next year, as I have no idea about most convenient accommodation nearby? Maybe somebody could recommend some reasonably priced hotels nearby? TIA

Definitely book a ticket in the Square as the atmosphere is fantastic. You won’t regret it as you get to participate much more in the entire concert. There are 2 large screens which means you can still watch the concert... More
