I really enjoyed the giant, old cathedral and its surrounding fair, I was there at Christmas. Enjoyed walking around and taking in the sights.

Lovely Square enjoying watching people, while having a beer and a bite
Mar 2021 • Couples
Enough places to grab a coffee to go or a beer to go, the terraces are still closed till April 28th but there were places to sit (stones and Couches) and the dun was shining, lovely place even during a pandemic, so imagine how great this will be in a couple of weeks.

Ticketmaster exploiting Andre Rieu fans....
Apr 2020
By continually rescheduling concerts, Ticketmaster are withholding the proceeds of resold tickets - effectively being paid twice for Andre Rieu resold tickets! Based on Andre Rieu cancellations, I will not be refunded for 2 years! Ticketmaster obviously care little about their brand but Andre Rieu should step in to stop his fans being exploited.

Maastricht.... lovely town, with all its beautiful buildings, monumental houses and many squares. One square tops them all: the Vrijthof, were it seems like everybody ends the day after work or leisure, always plenty of folks enjoying the scenery, enjoying life !

Lovely view

We went to eat at the terrace of Restaurant Momus and we had a nice view over the square. It's being kept nice and clean and people seem to be drawn towards this square in the middle of the centre.

One of the main squares in Maastricht. Nice to walk about, but due to COVID19 all the bars and restaurants around de Vrijthof were closed.

Vrijthof Maastricht - GO!
Jul 2019
We (two friends) came off a Prague-Budapest-Amsterdam Cruise. We had purchased an Andre Rieu VIP Package to the 20 July Concert. We booked through Andre Rieu Travel Co (good operators, all by email) three weeks before departing NZ. We caught a 9.30am train from Amsterdam to Maastricht Station (about 25EU each), taxi to Hotel Kruisherenhotel and that's where a whole new experience started. After dinner, along with others (from all over the globe) we were led by a marching band through windy streets, everyone waving their country flag to arrive in the Vrijthof. What a venue, what an atmosphere filled with people from everywhere and the concert -wow- we did not want the concert to stop. The Mayor and Leaders of Maastricht along with Andre Rieu are to be congratulated for maintaining and developing a charming venue that is open to the World but still richly the Vrijthof Maastricht. As travellers we are genuinely cautious with costs but this holiday grew from enjoyable to an absolutely unbelievable memorable experience. We say "never let the money overshadow the experience" . Check out a visit to Maastricht (a beautiful town) and wander around the Vrijthof - better still, go to an Andre Rieu Concert in the Vrijthod!

Footnote: From Maastricht, we caught a train into Belgium ...

The real center of Maastricht

Even if you just take a stroll through Maastricht, you have to come here. This is where all the action happens and you will find a new event here almost every weekend.
