We just followed the red tower from the square. The church is a bit different from all others but still pretty to visit.





The church has many beautiful carved plaques on the floor commemorating rich patrons that have died. The best part of the church is climbing the 228 steps up the narrow spiral staircase to the top of the tower for a beautiful view of the city...More

Climbed the tower. Well worth the effort as the views were amazing. Well worth the effort. Fortunately there were not many visitors when we visited.

We did not do the tower due to the weather but the inside was pretty plain indeed. No stained glass windows though the outside was pretty enough. the red tower was added a century after the original building - hence the odd clash of colours.

Sint Janskerk is a MUSt if you are in Maastricht. On a nice day, take the spiral stairs up the tower ( 219 steps ) and reward yourself with fantastic views of the city of Maastricht. Better go in the afternoon so the sun will...More



The Tower was not open when we visited. The church is quite plain inside - so I wouldn’t bother to visite. But it is worth seeing from the outside because of the unusual (and beautiful) colour.

I was not aware of the possibility of being able to go up the tower to check the view. I just discovered it now when reading the reviews. Maybe it is not communicated so upfront so you better try to find the right entrance. However...More
