We did a guided tour of the Casemates and found it very informative. The tour only does a short portion of the 14 kilometres of tunnels and the guide was great with her information about the history from the 17th century to the cold war when they were used . A great tour and all for 7.20€ . Highly recommended.

We experienced a very unique and interesting tour of the Kazematten in Maastricht. Historically interesting and entertaining experience in the underground of Maastricht. You will travel though all the times of this city though a very different perspective. A particular great mark for our guide Justyna ! I recommend warmly

If you're interested in history, I definetely would recommend visiting the Kazematten. Many people choose a tour through the caves, but I think for the historians among us the Kazematten are far more special. (caves are great, though). Our guide, Frank, had a really nice tour with lots of good information and 'joking moments'. He has a good feeling for the group that's in front of him and there's lots of time to ask him questions. The tour Kazematten has it all: humour, history, even adventure. Not recommended for people who are afraid of the dark and little spaces.

Located outskirts of the Maastricht, around 35 minuted walking from main train station. It will be better if you cover it with St. pieterburg fort, which is above the caves. Caves were made by romans for limestones, were also used by immigrants in World War II

The underground tunnels is the main attraction of Maastricht. After taking a city tour by the solar powered vehicle,we took public transport bus from the city centre. You have to walk a bit from the bus stop to the Kazematten office to buy the tickets. It includes the tour with the guide. You cannot go of your own,you soon realise, why? Our guide was simply the best. He not only put us all at ease,it could be little scary & claustrophobic for many,he regaled us with jokes & anecdotes. Of course,he apprised us of the history of the tunnels, its uses over the centuries and its importance. The part of the dinosaurs was most interesting. While there are regular tours in Dutch, there is only one English language tour in the afternoon, which we had noted from the internet and planned our visit accordingly. We also used public transport for travel to Maastricht and had to carefully plan for the bus and train timings, since they are not that frequent. We therefore could not visit the nearby fort. May be the tourist department plan for more English language tours, for which we could see many tourists.
