Small but very good FREE photo gallery with a nice selection of photo books. They organise a photo festival each summer too. When in Groningen, you should go here.

This little gallery is relatively undiscovered but has had some really great exhibitions. Just pop in for a quick look around and go back when you have more time. It's a peaceful place in the city.

Galleries exclusively devoted to photography are rare, and those that feature provocative work rarer still. Noorderlicht fulfills both in its spacious, edgy space, located on the Ankerkhof, facing the old church (kerk). It is open free to the public Wednesday through Sunday, 12-18pm.
