We came here on a very sunny day, not sure whether it was worthwhile entering when it was sunny outside. However, it was, largely due to the 2 temporary exhibitions (De Ploeg and Lachapelle). So before, entering you might want to check out if the...More

The first thing to say about the Groninger Museum is that the building itself is a work of art and, when arriving by train, it is more or less the first (and very striking) thing you see after emerging from the station. On our visit...More

We visited this during a change in exhibits. The Romantism in the North was being replaced by a big LaChapelle exhibit. So I guess we were lucky in catching a bit of both. And of course other galleries in their permanent exhibits.

My husband and I enjoyed this museum very much. The art exhibition was delightful and gave us a greater understanding of the history of this city. We also enjoyed the permanent exhibition.

The main interest for me was the collection of modern art, which was very thin indeed. Museum is an ugly concrete building opposite the central station. Only intersting thing about the museum was the empty exhibition space on the 3rd floor.

This was the most stimulating, interesting, informative and varied museum visit I have experienced in a long time. There are beautiful contemporary objects by Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis group, and a range of classical paintings from the 15th to 19th century such as Lucas...More

I enjoyed both the interesting permanent art collection of Groninger Museum and the temporary expo(until 6may 2018),a large exhibition on the Romantic School of painting(1800-1850). The exhibition"De Romantiek in het Noorden" features works by famous 19th century artists like J.M.W Turner,John Constable,Caspar David Friedrich and...More

The building is very unusual and an eclectic architectural gem. Very bold. I've seen many good exhibitions in the Groningen Museum.

I stayed in Mercure Hotel in Martiniplaza, it's a 15 min walk from the city center, but it's very well maintained, not extremely pricey and has a good loyalty program. I would advise for business trips, for touristic trips... More
