Family of 6 rented one of the Bokanier boats. Two cabins plus a living room that can be converted into a bed room at night. Mattresses were so saggy and uncomfortable that we all did not get any good night rest. All curtains in the bedroom are hanging away from the slanting windows (gravity - duh!) hence you could not blacken it out. The living room (aka 3rd bedroom) was missing blinds/curtains hence bright inside very early on (apart from no privacy towards other passing people on the docks in the marinas!) The boat was advertised for up to seven people but only had 6 (with a squeeze) seats around the table (at least one foldable chair missing)! The fridge is way to small for a boat for 7 people. Even if you go shopping on a daily base, which we ended up doing. The boat was dirty. Filthy drawers, old moldy clothes, many empty wine bottles. The drain in the shower was blocked with long black hair (we are all blond) so we had to empty the filter with our hands (YUK!) The holding tank (sewage) was not draining to the outside of the boat properly, we had a constant smell of sewage in the boat. There was carpet through nearly the entire boat but no vacuum cleaner!! Brush a carpet? Seriously?? We had made the big mistake that we did not agreed on a fixed price for the fuel before we left Centerpoint. We got ripped off with a way more expensive price than all the fuel stations we had passed before. Their argument was that the fuel for the boats is more expensive. Yeah sure, and all the fuels stations in other marinas who were way cheaper?! We wanted to see/experience a lot of the Netherlands (weather was not too good to stay in one place all the time - and after all it is advertised as a boat holiday to go through the canals) but still took the boat on suggested routes from Centerpoint. We came a day earlier back to Centerpoint to find out if we had enough fuel to continue our last tour (we had a strange feeling and yes, there is NO fuel gage! - even if you get told you can drive certain hours and "it will be still way enough for you to get around..") we were close to finishing with 5liters!! Guess who rolled the eyes at us? Yep, the owner: "What you have used sooo much fuel?" Well guess what, we could no have sped through the canals and used more fuel because you can not even reach the advertised maximum speed as the engine seem to be curbed! And to finish everything off they wanted to charge a massive fee for cleaning the boat by the company or you could do it yourself and save the fee. Guess why the boat is in such a bad shape with so many defects?? Well people tend to clean it quickly/ half heartedly rather than paying the high fee and therefore the owner will never realize the problems because he does not see them whilst cleaning the boat himself. Would I recommend Centerpoint? I think my experience speaks for itself...

When we took over the boat, the welcome service was nice and also the technical introduction was very well done. Except that there was just a revolution counter [rpm] but no tachometer [km/h] – quite useless, if speed limits on waterways are in km/h. By chance, we found a mobile app ("Waterkaarten" by ANWB) that night, which not only showed us our current position but also our SOG (speed over ground). That was a real value-add for us as beginners that made boat driving and navigation a lot easier than with the paper-based maps we received. After some days of free trial, this app costs a few euros. A hint from the charter company on that would have been helpful. The boat looked really great from the outside and after 3 hours of a very good skipper-training of an associated boat driving school we felt well prepared for our trip. Unfortunately the inside of the boat was not well cleaned when we started to unpack on the next day. The dishes were dirty (really dirty!) and also the amount of hair/dirt in the shower/sink showed, that it was not cleaned for ages. Also the dust in the cabinets did not allow us to unpack before we cleaned them. The window in the rear cabin was leaking, so that our beds got pretty wet when it rained the third night. When we returned the boat and pointed out the problems, the reaction was a nice smile and the comment "I'll figure out who’s responsible for that" (Honestly I am not interested in the responsible person.) I would have expected an apology and at least a refund of the already paid charge for the final cleaning that we booked as we already had to do the cleaning upfront. The rest of the service was good, and the staff friendly - e.g. when we had a problem with our warm water, they send over a technician within some hours. The missing cleanness of the boat would make me look for another provider next time.

We are a retired couple from Manchester England and usually rent a Cruiser in Ireland, but the fishing is bad now and everthing is too expensive. So, We rented a boat from Centre point and probably had one of our best holidays afloat. The boat was very well fitted out and although we did not require training , it was offered. The waterways are well set out but quite busy with some pretty big ships. The boat was powerfull enough to keep up with everyone else and good on fuel. We stayed in Marinas at night and these were very good value with nice clean toilets and showers. Very friendly people and some fine resteraunts and cafes. I must say that if you like fishing, the area around sneek is virgin with fine Bream and Roach with catches of 25 kilos easily obtained in 2 or 3 hours on sweetcorn or worm baits. We will definitely be going again. Jim & Deanna Kirwin.

Centerpoint Charters rents boat for cruising Nothern Holland. The boats are in varying sizes and are clean and well maintained. We rented the smallest, a Harmony, for 2 people. 1 - Take insect repellant 2 - Do not rent bicycles from the company. You don't really get bicycles, but can pick them IF you go to the towns where the company has an arrangement. This was not made clear on the company website. All Dutch towns have bike rental places, so you don't have to restrict yourself. 3 - Get the older of the two boat instructors. We had the youngest and he couldn't get off the boat fast enough. I had to figure out most of the controls myself. 4 - Some of the towns have places to tie-up in the center of town. Takes advantage of this. Sneek has a downtown docking place. 5 - Get the convenience package. It has the sheet, towels, etc you need and also provided for the final cleaning of the boat. 6 - It gets cold in Northern Holland. Go in July - August or carry a lot of warm clothes.
