A really spacious well presented collection of pottery from around the world. Well lit and easy to access with some interpretation in Dutch and (to a lesser extent) English. Some new exhibits with a static collection of Middle Eastern and Oriental ceramics. Better in-depth interpretation could have been provided as I was left with many more questions about the exhibits... More

Look, you don't have to be a ceramics and pottery buff to appreciate this great museum, which I think is rated as the best ceramics museum in the Netherlands and with good reason.....its awesome. If only a passing interest you can peruse the exhibits in an hour or less, and for enthusiasts several hours but either way the range of... More

We went here because we were curious about the interior of this beautiful building. Boy, were we surprised by the fantastic exhibition on ceramics and how they tell the story of the 20t century! Audio tour only in Dutch though

We visited the museum on a sunday morning. It was not crowded. The lay out with objects and texts was tasteful. We specially liked the (small) section on Islamic ceramics. Beautifully restored zodiacal statues in the garden! Marijke Meu's room was inviting...The precious green bowl did not have much tekst, or did we miss something.

Almost for 7 year I'm living in the province of Friesland and this was the first time I've visited the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics in Leeuwarden. Always thought it was just a small museum but I was quite amazed by the quantity and quality of the exhibited artwork. So many wondeful old and new porcelain art pieces, representing the... More

I don't have any interests in ceramics but, because I own a museumcard I could enter for free and thought that I might as well have a look. I am glad I did, because this museum is well worth a visit. It is located in a beautiful historic building where M.C. Esscher was born and Princess Marie-Louise von Hessen Kassel... More

In an historic manor-house with royal connections this museum offers modern and antique, chinese and european ceramics. The area is a good illustration of a dutch provincial town.

This museum is worth your effort: it's an old palace, with modern ceramic art but also an old chamber, decorated with antiques and very often beautiful exhibitions.
