Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the Naturmuseum with my 3 yr old hoping that he wouldn’t be too young for the exhibitions. He loved everything and he was so excited to see what lies behind that wall, under those stairs... There are a lot of interactive educational parts in the museum - e.g.this was the first time that he looked into a microscope. Although it is a smaller museum, we spent about an hour there and my son kept going back to try the interactions/look at animals he might have missed. Very good value for money (free entry for under 16s and only CHF5 per adult). There was no parking spaces left in front of the museum, but you can park in the theater’s parking garage or by Manor/Coop. Very much recommended

In the same building as the Art Museum, this is essential if you have kids. Anyway it is delightful and full of surprises. Probably the best Natural History museum we have ever visited, and downstairs there is a geological display and a facsimile of being on board an ancient ship that made me feel a wee bit seasick!! There are fossils, recreations, displays of all animals, birds with their songs, and a hands on playroom for children. Very highly recommended, with the only slight criticism that there are no explanations in English. The very enthusiastic and kindly staff also found this puzzling. For this and the art museum, quite apart from all the other excellent collections and museums, not to mention the very charming old town, Winterthur is a marvellous place to visit.

We visited the museum with a 4 years old boy on a snowy day. It’s a rather small museum, but full of interactive activities that were lots of fun and educating for both adults and kids. My son actually wanted to return the next morning. Kids get to experience a variety of aspects ranging from the Swiss wild life to molecules and conservation. Great fun for all the family.

We have visited the museum with my three year old and he was very interested in the different attractions, the museum has to offer.
1) The museum has an activity area for young children which includes games, paintings, puzzles, toys .etc.
2) The cafe in the museum offers delicious food if you need a pitstop during your visit.
3) You need to leave your staff in lockers downstairs and you need change to be able to lock it. Remember to bring it :)
4) Museum shop does not have a lot to offer. Postcards were interesting though
5) Museum can be even more attractive for children 6-10 years old, since it reveals lots of scientific and historical information
6) All information is in German , so if you do not speak the local language make sure you have pre-read the content prior or get the translate tools available

We have spent almost 3 hours in the museum ( including a long lunch at cafe). So it is an attractive rainy day activity.

The NaturMuseum is in a separate wing of the KunstMuseum with a separate entry required. Spread over two levels, there are various educational videos, hands on experiments, rooms/workshops, gift shop, sample animals, fossils and marine life. Also, make sure to check out the lower level area that has the example of a ship at sea full of sound, articles and the room even shifts from side to side.

There are a lot of items here for kids to enjoy and learn about animals in their environment..

The museum is mostly suitable for children who can use all their senses- they can smell and identify spices, play a 'birds' piano, create animals masks and many other fascinating and enriching activities. Crowded on weekends. A must for families with kids visiting Winterthur

A lot of taxidermied animals may not be to everyone's liking but the exhibit on the formation of the Alpine mountain ranges and the associated minerals is truly interesting. There are also other clever displays which is a halmark of Swiss museums in general. The museum pass gives you free entrance and it is worthwhile. I'm glad we stopped by.

Must do this with kids. In the cellar there is a room that simulates the movements of a vintage commercial sailing ship and shows products that where imported. The exposition is somewhat eclectic in parts but it sure is worth a visit.

There's a rich variety of animals and stones. It is very interesting because there are many activities mainly for children, like recognising the name of some spices. It is awesome and I recommend it for kids, adults and families. It's a very good experience (and it costs only 5 fr)
