The sunny corner of Zermatt From the train station you will reach the Sunnegga-Rothornvalley station by foot in five minutes. Taking the undergroundn funicular you will ascend to 2,288 metres (7,506 ft) in just four and a half minutes and arrive at Sunnegga, the “sunny corner” of Zermatt. From the spacious sun terrace of the restaurant, you enjoy a wonderful view of the Matterhorn. Wolli playground Leisee At Leisee lake, families can enjoy an adventure playground with attractive barbecue areas and a water feature. Your children can explore the play area while you relax in the idyllic lakeside surroundings and contemplate the amazing views of the Matterhorn. Take a refreshing dip in the lake, or play Robinson Crusoe as you cross the water on a wooden raft attached to a cable that spans the lake. Off to the land of adventure! Kickbiking on Sunnegga The extremely popular kickbikes can be hired at the SunneggaRothorn valley station (helmet included). From there it’s a thrill a minute as you speed downhill to Tuftern and on to Zermatt. There are various restaurants along the way where you can stop for a breather before continuing back to the valley station to return your kickbikes.

Sunnegga has AMAZING views of the Matterhorn on a clear day. The 5 lakes trail is enjoyable and I would highly recommend it. It's pretty well marked and made for wonderful pictures!

We hadn't planned to visit here during our time in zermatt, but the weather was awful with limited visibility and we decided that we didn't want to spend the money to go to gornagrat or the glacier paradise until the weather had improved. We got...More

It was a little cloudy but the hiking was still nice and every now and then the Matterhorn would pop out of the clouds.

We started the day up at Stellisee, but then had a picnic lunch here. The playground was great for the kids. Us grownups had fun taking the kids across the boat ferry.

A beautiful sun terrace above Zermatt. Easily accessible by train. Prima trails and close to "Findeln" with excellent restaurants / huts. Slopes for everyone, especially the departure from Rothorn down to the valley station of Sunnegga morning is the recommended time to visit.

1.Sunegga staion(terminal):observation-point 2.You can walk to Leisee for 5 min. From terminal to Leisee entrance there is a gondola type cable-car.(If you have a ticket of Sunegga cable,it's free.)

A great place to go for a lengthy, but low intensity walk around all or any of the 5 lakes. You also get many views of the Matterhorn. A must do with a few days in Zermatt.

Racing down the mountain from Sunnegga to Zermatt was the highlight of my kids (ok, probably mine too) trip to Zermatt. We took the trip all the way to the top (funicular, gondola, tram) of Rothorn and hiked down to Sunnegga. We had a great...More

To take the Sunnegga up, and then walk up to Fluhalp and then around to Riffelalp is a great walk for a nice day out. Then take the Gornergrat train down again.

I'm sorry, I cannot tell you about the dinner buffet, but if it's like the breakfast buffet it should be fine. We found all food in Switzerland to be very expensive. I imagine you know this, but Switzerland is very... More

What a Floridian may find pleasant may not apply here ;-) I suggest you go to tourist office and check weather forecast. Weather does change, as you say, and extensively; best to be safe. In winter, for example, the best way... More
