Every place, town and beautiful Alps in Switzerland surprises me every time and Matterhorn is one of a kind. The way upto matterhorn is long but worth every second for all the views you get from cable car. A must must visit place.

We went during the first week of december. The cable car up is huge and very new. Gets you very close to the Matterhorn and the surroundings. Must do! Do it on a clear sky, sunny weather. Ticket is quite expensive.

Zermatt, is the last train stop in the alps. Absolutely rich in atmosphere, wealth, beautiful scenery, and now in the winter, a magical, winter wonderland for all to enjoy. As a non skier, I managed to fill my time here no problem. The shopping is...More

We went up on a cloudy day, I enjoyed the views, when the clouds cleared but it suits skiers more than hikers ! Although there was a hike group who climbed the nearby mountain. Very impressive.

Be prepared to be gob smacked by the scenery. Gondola rides to the top take about 30 minutes. The last one is brand new and has heated seats - bonus. Make sure to visit the ice palace and be prepared to be cold.

This is definitely worth buying tickets for. If you're driving you'll have to park in the town before Zermatt, as its a car-less town. There are little taxis that can get you all around the town though. The cable car ride was incredible. The first...More

Amazing views in the cable car (sunny day) and at the viewing food. Delicious food in the restaurant. There are some upgrades to the ice palace with some nice color lights and an ice cave slide! That was really fun though short. In November, the...More

Eat and drink, admire view, take a stroll make some pictures, ski and there are ice sculptures inside the glacier. You have a last departure time around 17.00 to 18.00 so two to three hours up there will be enough. Its cold... More

Just read on TripAdvisor it takes 47 minutes. It takes three gondola rides from Zermatt. We stayed awhile at the second level to adjust to the altitude. Bathrooms on top are not free. Have fun. It is beautiful up there.

I was there August 12 and the earliest lift up from Zermatt was 6:30am according to the tourist info bureau. They would be the best to contact in case this has changed recently.
