visit with guided tour
Oct 2021
We visited the chateau and had a free guided tour, which was absolutely fantastic! Our guide (Cédric Jossen) made history come alive. The 1 hour tour is an absolute must if you visit! Your guide takes you visit places which are only accessible in company of a guide (the chapel with 700 year old paintings and the tower from which you have a wonderful view around Sion). The tour guides speak French, English and German.

Good little family adventure
Sep 2020
Good family walk up to the castle, there is not a lot up there but it's a little adventure getting up there and on a nice day you get a good view. Plenty of rocks for excited young kids to climb on.

Our Trip to Sion
Aug 2020 • Friends
We went to Sion during our vacation in the canton of wallis in Switzerland. “Le Chateau de Tourbillon”was amazing! The castle ruins are pretty and a free guide told us everything we wanted to know

A little bit of an up hill hike and not for your occasional walker. Beautiful Castle ruins with some stunning views and great pictures.

although pretty much ruins, worth the visit
May 2019 • Couples
steep and rough walk up to it. It would not suit anyone who might have difficulties on steep rugged paths. Well worth doing if you like looking around old ruins. The views from the top are superb. Can see all of Sion and the mountains all around. There is a nice little cafe at the bottom for a cup of tea or ice-cream after the effort

Lovely Castle
Apr 2019 • Solo
This is a nice walk from Sion to see the Chateau, Castle on Church on two hills. You can return via the Valais vineyards, which has lovely views and is very pleasant.

A very nice castle!
Mar 2019
The castle is located on a rocky spire above the city of Sion. Reaching the site requires climbing steep stairs that wind around the hill. The chapel's frescoes are still intact despite the fire that destroyed the castle. A slender watch tower still stands in this corner as well. The southern wall is fortified with a square gate house.

Great view
Mar 2019 • Friends
Very interesting view, needs a little bit of effort to go up, but totally worth it. The weather was nice and it wasn’t cold. You can sit there and relax and enjoy the nature. You can go also for a picnic.

Best view of Church-Fortress Valere
Sep 2018
This hilltop castle is imposing in its own right but the highlight of climbing up to see it is the views back to the Church-Fortress of Valere, directly opposite. Allow about an hour to explore both. They are a 20 min walk from the station in Sion. We explored the church first (an easier climb) and then went up to the chateau. Rate this pair as up there with Chateau Chillon for wow factor.

Ask for the tour!
Sep 2018 • Couples
The castle is actually the remains of the old castle. It's located on a top hill, the trip up is quite a hassle.
My wife and I, enjoyed very much the guided tour we were given by the grounds' keeper at the information post. He was very informative about the castle's history and the era. He made the visit more memorable to us, because of the tour.
Note, that some of the rooms in the castle are only accessible in the guided tour.

We recommend to make the effort and go visit the castle.
