You can reach it by cable-railway in a 10 minutes ride. If you go up on a clear day, you can enjoy a breathtaking view all around by walking on an easy foot path: you will see the city of Lugano and its' surroundings, the lake and even the Alps. There is also a museum (free entrance) and a church.

Monte San Salvatore is a Must when visiting Lugano. It is easy to reach, take the little red train that makes a tour around the city and it will drop you where you can go to this mountain. The view is beautiful, probably one of the best in Ticino. You can have s drink or lunch , depending on your... More

A must see when visiting! We took the Funicular to the top and I was mesmerized by the amazing views. I literally felt like I was on top of the world. When you reached the top there were multiple exhibits for you to visit and soak in the sun, culture and history. We met a couple who hiked the way... More

I did a sunrise hike with my friends, it is an easy to moderate level hike! Rejuvenating, refreshing trek, there is a small church, museum and restaurant (only summer) on the top as well as a lot of open space. Nice place to do Yoga too!

Monte San Salvatore has to be viewed from all directions we foster saw this. Pints in from Campione D'Italia many years ago beautifully lit up at night and if you visit this from the top you will get spectacular views down to the lake which will blow you away

Getting up to the mountain by Funicular took some time. But when we arrived to the top we realized that it was worth every minute. One of the places with the most beautiful landscape I visited.

Took a ride to Mount Salvadore (Lugano) on the Funicular. Now this was a feat of Swiss engineering! We travelled halfway up the hill in a small funicular carriage at a very steep incline, then changed to another funicular carriage that basically went vertically the rest of the 1,700m to the top. Our ears popped on the journey skywards. I... More

We got on the teleferic and after about 10 minutes we had arrived on the top of the hill. The view was magnificent and the food in the restaurant satisfactory.

The views from Monte San Salvatore are nothing short of spectacular! A "fun" funacular takes you almost all the way up, and it is an easy walk from there, but not handicap friendly. Many hiking trails but we didn't have time to try any of them.
