This is a beautiful falls that requires a lift up to where you can best view it. This is where the climbing starts and then it is up to you whether you want to go higher or not. I am an active senior citizens and despite back issues I was able to go about halfway to the top.

The little cog railway ride is fantastic and the falls are are just another waterfall. But if you are a Sherlock fan then a tiny star just above the green path on the mountain on the other side of the falls indicates where the Sherlock and Moriarty fell to their death. A plaque records: “Across this dreadful cauldron occurred the... More

We were on a visit to Switzerland and I was so looking forward as an avid Sherlock Holmes fan to visit The Reichenbach Falls . On arrival I was informed that "it is closed for the Winter " I was mortified ! The S H Museum was also closed but I managed to have a photograph taken with a bronze... More

After reading earlier reviews i understood there's no carriage operating in the winter even so i decided to hike the mountain and give up the experience of a carigge I was excited enough to see the falls and the place were sherlock fell to death. What i didn't realize is THERE NO WATER IN THE WINTER! really disappointing. Saying that... More

We had a lot of fun here and took a bit of hiking in as well to view the falls from the other side. Very pretty.

These famous falls seen by many important historical figures over the centuries were the setting for the fight between Moriarty and Sherlock Holmes where the fictional detective apparently fell to his death - only to return some years later (due to public pressure on the author). The falls are definitely worth visiting - the water flow is highly variable -... More

Made a detour to see the Falls only to find that on this beautiful, clear, warm autumn day -12 October - the funicular to the Falls was already closed for the winter. Given the global significance of these Falls to all Holmes fans, I am astounded that there is no notification of the season's dates. Surely the owners/operators should take... More

I visited this yesterday. It is a must do in the Meirigen area. I'm also a Sherlock Holmes fan so seeing the falls where 'it' happened was exciting. We took the trolley up $7CHF for up only. $10 for a ticket with return. Upon arrival, we hiked the remaining distance up (30 minutes) and lots of stairs. At the top... More

Good place to visit if you are a Sherlock Holmes fan. Fernicular railway to the bottom of the falls, then a long walk to the spot where Holmes and Moriarty tussled.
